Staff and crew of film that ridiculed Muslims say they were 'grossly misled'

What I don't understand is how one silly movie can spark attacks and protests across the Islamic world. I don't believe it, but I don't understand what role the video really plays. Al Jazeera is saying that most of the protesters in Benghazi weren't even aware of the video, but they also say that people are protesting against the video.
This whole thing is just really, really weird. I guess the main thing I want to know is how the attack that killed those Americans is linked to the video.

 

...The Islamist extremist groups were offended by the video, and attacked the embassy in retaliation. They knew that half of america anyway will agree that its americas fault in hopes that we will butt out and let them rule the middle east. What is hard to get?

Of course people will protest when their prophet Muhammad is portrayed, especially in a way such as this. I also suspected like you say, that the video and attack on the embassy in Libya aren't related but are simply used as a spark for terrorist groups. But I think this video works like that for many of the protesters too. They have other grudges against the US and this video is just a reason to protest, burn flags, even storm an embassy or two. Many of the protesters that Al Jazeera showed weren't even talking about the video. They also said that in Egypt, football hooligans are clashing with the riot police. So what I'm confused about, is whether most of these people are really protesting the video, or whether most have just joined in to protest America and Israel in general.

Also, could you refer me to your information about the leader of the Libyan revolutionaries being a "known terrorist"? Not that I am doubting that terrorists played a part in fighting the revolution, I just wonder who you're talking about.

 

Because the various muslim brotherhood members, and more fundamentalist factions which they TRUST tell them that America does all of this to them, when it does not. its more simple than it really is, don't give others the benefit of the doubt too quickly, American.

The caliphate is a marvelous wave; the like of which only those who go with its flow may not be sundered of their minds or bodies. It is compelling as it is presented as pure truth and reality. It is a body of peoples which is controlled by a few that claim they are the only legitimate representers of the lot.

With death by martyrdom within its first dynasty preceding Mohammed, the dynasties thereafter that imposed the caliphate were mostly shiite (shiite being the ones who will kill you if you disagree, Sunni being the more civil version from a Western standpoint). When Mustafa Kemal Ataturk abolished the caliphate in the 20s, what has remained was democracy and a wonderful standard of living hanging on an unsustainable structure throughout much of the middle-eastern and muslim worlds.

This unsustainable structure is hanging on rebels fighting for a revival of caliphate against mostly harsh dictators like more recently Egypt's Hosni Mubarak. Once the harsh dictator keeping order in these regions is removed, what happens after is bullies like Muslim fundamentalists, or socialist ideologies that will overpower a democratic republic of capitalist people.

The vast majority of middle eastern peoples seem to have lived under conditions throughout history predisposing them to be loyal to certain canons. The various kings and dynasties organizing the ranks of their blossoming nations since Ancient Sumer, afterwards religion uniting the masses and playing a more crucial role. Before and after Islam much of the middle east is tribalistic. Similarly in Africa tribes remain a way of unique identity. Longing for salvation, security, and sustainability, and happiness... the masses of middle eastern peoples hold to their nostalgic or religious structures in order to uphold these four standards.
