Squishing buds?

Discussion in 'Harvesting and Processing Marijuana' started by prejerism, Nov 27, 2012.

  1. When I say squishing buds I mean to press on them slightly making them more dense and compact. My question to the experienced is this good for the bud?The reason I ask this is because I know oxygen is bad for your bud. And I have buds curing now for the past 2 months. They look and smell pretty much the same. Theres a difference but nothing to extreme. In the past I have seen nicely cured a+ bud nice and dense frosted all white from medical shops. Very appealing. I know the stuff I have has the potential. So what I am doing as an experiment is squishing the buds just enough so they become more dense. When I squish them the bud even starts to look like a+ and of course the smell is there from squishing. Then Im going to let it cure for a month in a separate experimental jar. Also I asked this in another thread on here and havnt gotten a reply yet. Even if the bud is curing in the jars for over a month do you still want to burp them. Maybe only once a week?

  2. Horrible idea. Squishing buds causes trichomes to burst and does absolutely nothing to the overall smell/smoke. The reason the a+ bud looks so good is because it was grown, dried, and cured properly. You sound like you grew some fluffy bud that you dried too quickly. And if lost all of its dank smell unless you squish it or grind it up.

Stop doing this. Seriously. No offense but you must be really really young or just very uniformed about growing/marijuana to do something like this. Best of luck.

  3. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.

  4. I can safely say, I've had some rock hard nuggets the size of my pinky nail weighing half a gram each. It is also some of the strongest weed I've ever had.

    EDIT: What he/she said ^.
Its all in the drying/curing process.

  5. You can't polish a turd. There is no substitute for properly grown buds. A good cure will only help capture and lock in the smells and flavored that were acquired during the grow.

There is nothing wrong with squishing your buds though, but it will not make your buds more dense. They can appear more dense until looked at closely or picked apart for use. Dense buds come from

    1) strain grown, sativas are less dense than indicas.
    2) proper light, more light equals more dense buds
    3) proper nutrition from day 1 if the grow. Every stress or burn the plant gets will cause the buds to be more leafy
    4) temperature and humidity. To high on either or both during the grow can cause stretch and leafiness.
