Sprouting seeds

  1. I germinated some thai seeds on the 25th and 3 days later the had done sprouted the tap root about 0.5" - 0.75" long at this point i usually put em in a solo cup and move them into a humidity dome under some soft CFL light for a few days until the plant is roughly 2 or 3 inches tall.

Well i had a different idea this time i decided to take those sprouted seeds and put them straight into final pot, and instead of soft light i had some clamp lights and bulbs laying around. I put em right on top and gonna see how they do. It keeps the soil warm and will be under bright light. Im curious to see how its gonna work. They been under the light only about 12 hours, both are starting to grow up and out of the soil ever so slightly i will check them in the morning. In a day or 2 i will need to lift em up a little as the plant grows 20220228_212930.jpg

  2. Cannabis can take CFLs at point blank range. Almost touching. But the reflector will trap to much heat and that WILL fry them I'm willing to bet. Pull the reflectors on half the plants as a control and insurance against total failure.

  3. pull the reflector?

  4. This is the story of most my grows. Except different lighting. I prefer starting in the final pot. Its less work. And the root system is much more uniform/even because its never impeded by a smaller pot. Usually costs me more because I'm running at least a 315w CMH but that gives me the temperature regulation I need. And i dont fill the 20 gallon pots all the way because weed has a shallow root system.

But you cant argue with results.

Hope this gives you some encouragement.

  5. I would on half until you know for sure. That whole never put all your eggs in one basket thing.
I've fried whole sets and had to start over to many time to risk everybody on an untried anything.

Remover the reflector and hang the CFL an inch over the plant. Reflected light lacks any real power as far as the plant is concerned

  6. Every CMH grow I've seen does great and yours is right up there.

  7. How do you mean? My above grow is entirely reflected light.... Vertical bulb CMH fixtures.

I do agree, hang them above the plants but i dont understand why you would remove the reflector.

  8. Yeah man thats why im switching from 1000w HPS to 4 CMH lights in my 5x5 tent. Ive consistently gotten slightly better results with the CMH. The smaller tent will be converted to LED or drying space. With 4 vertical bulb fixtures i plan to run them in a cycle that somewhat simulates the sun. For veg- 2 lights (630w) on each side for 9 hours each, no overlap. As soon as one side turns off, the other turns on. For flower- 8 hours per set with a 4 hour overlap. So 630w on one side for 4 hours, 1260w for 4 hours, and 630w on the other side for 4 hours. I already got 2 more fixtures dirt cheap used, i just need to invest in a couple more philips bulbs. Toward end of flower i may run the lights independently with little to no overlap. Having 4 fixtures will really give me a lot of options as far as HID lighting is concerned.

  9. i moved em up a little so all the heat isn't held inside. Its still close enough to get warmth from bulbs and almost as much light

You can see on these 2 pics where they will soon be popping up out the soil and start growing

  10. Are you growing in either a stainless steel ashtray or some kind of a urn? If you want to grow good weed and lots of yield get yourself some fabric pots

  11. lol, they are 2.5g planters they had roses in them last year

  12. What are they made of do they have holes in them The bottom I'm saying. Whatever they are I'm telling you grab yourself just one fabric bag and grow out of it and grow out of your other thing on the side and see what happens

  13. I'm glad you found it funny I'm just trying to help man so you know. Glad you didn't get mad lol. But seriously most of us OG's on here buy those little three $4 fabric pots and you can run like three or four times minimum. What happens is your roots get more air and the soil doesn't take as long to dry out each time. That equates to more feeds!
Maybe this will help u realize, Papa don't play!! IMG_20220228_144944_286.jpg

  14. i have some fabric pots, but maybe the ones i have are garbage idk. Every time i would water them all the water would run out of the sides instead of soaking into and out the bottom. So past few grows i've used plastic pots instead

  15. Don't get vivosun 20220302_091257.jpg

  16. ya the ones i have are vivosun, i dont recommend them like i said all the water runs out the side walls, unless i water em super slow that is

  17. I have some vivosun 7 gallon bags and I've found that letting the medium dry out to much causes the water to run out the side, other than that I have no issues with them

  18. I like these. They leak a little but not bad at all.
