Spoon vs. Chillum vs. One Hitter (My perspective on the matter)

I've been smoking for about 6 months, about everyday for over 4 months. ive bought 4 pieces so far, 2 spoons, 1 chillum and 1 one hitter. i want to offer my feelings these 3 different types of pieces. remember, these are my opinions so feel free to add your own. im in college and this definitely plays a part in my thoughts on the pieces. ENJOY! and dont take this too seriously

chillum:
this was my first piece. i got it for 4 bucks and its really been good to me. when i was a newer smoker, i liked it because it was glass and it was my first real smoking piece. being such a novice, it took time to learn how to smoke it properly. i would constantly try to smoke out of it without packing a tight bowl and the weed would fall out. this was really frustrating. the hole in the stem of the pipe was also really big. i would always get ash in my mouth. these two problems made me not use this piece for smoking weed.
i didnt buy weed for quite some time. instead, i was able to obtain some hashish from a friend of mine. i obviously couldnt smoke a joint of hash, so i had to use my piece. i found it extremely successful and enjoyable smoking hash. i started in college, i would go behind a building and take a few hits and be wrecked. although, when the hash got to be too small, it would again go into my lungs which was awful. however, i eventually bought some screens and smoking it has been much easier. i dont usually use this one but i brought it back up to college and just smoked out of it and it hits nice and hard.

in conclusion:
this pipe is great for sneaking a toke or just conserving weed. my chillum in the picture has a nice big bowl too so i can pack a lot in there. if your looking for a first piece i would suggest it, although, i would also suggest buying one with a small stem hole, and also picking up a pack of screens. also realize, that you should hold the chillum at an upwards angle when you smoke it until the resin builds up and your able to pack a bowl without the weed slipping out.



portability: very portable, theyre usually between 3 and 6 inches and have the diameter of a finger. you can keep them in your pocket with ease but be careful they dont fall out.
price: you can definitely get a nice one for under 20$
easy to clean: pretty much, just soak it in isopropyl alcohol and salt and then just use a pipe cleaner, it will get clean very quickly.
size of bowl: mine is pretty big for a small piece. you can take about 4 or 5 good hits from it.
simplicity: i was able to figure it out, but it was a bit frustrating for me as a noob. its simple now, but like i said, buy some screens and hold it more upright the first few uses.
smell: this pipe can smell up a dorm room if your not careful unless your used to taking big hits. if your trying not to get noticed, i would probably go with a one hitter over this until you feel more comfortable about smoking.
harshness: mine is fairly harsh due to how close the bowl is to the flame. the advantage of this is it builds up you strength. your lungs will get used to the harshness. however, for a beginner, it will cause a lot of coughing. although this is true of any piece for a noobie, chillums are definitely one of the harshest pieces in my opinion.

 

spoon:
this was my second piece. the one in the picture is my first spoon. i bought this after my frustration with my chillum. i was sure that the problem was i needed an upright bowl, so that the weed wouldnt fall out. this is also when i bought my first pack of screens, so i could use both pieces. after buying this piece, i went to a friends house to try it out found it difficult to use. again, i was still a novice. my only problem was lighting the bowl. i kept on burning my fingers. and this really put me off. i learned after going on this site how to properly light the bowl by keeping the lighter parallel with the bowl. i havent brought a spoon to school until more more recently, i almost always smoke it outside, otherwise, it smells up the room.



portability: you can conceal them in your pocket although you cannot for bigger ones. spoons are probably the least sneaky but you can still do it. a chillum or one hitter is better for concealing.
price: the spoon in the picture was 12 bucks. thats about the minimum price for spoons. around 10 dollars. the glass for mine was on the thinner side but its still solid. my other spoon, i bought for 25$ and its much thicker. you get what you pay for, although if your clumsy or just dont want to worry about your piece breaking, i would spend probably 25$ on a spoon. although i still really do like the one i got for 12. as long as your careful, you spoon should last you a long time.
easy to clean: spoons are the hardest to clean out of the 3 different type of glass in this fairly easy to clean using the isopropyl method. its hard to clean the inside of the piece, underneath the bowl you can still get it very clean but it takes more effort.
size of bowl: the size of the bowl is bigger then a chillum or one hitter, but the size varies greatly. you can get a really big bowl or a bowl thats a little bit bigger then one on a chillum.
simplicity: its fairly easy to use, although the carb hole may throw people off. also, you need to hold the lighter parallel to the bowl. for noobs, be sure to not light all off the weed and inhale or you will be coughing like youve never coughed before and people will be mad at you for not saving them some of the green.
smell: these are smellier then the chillum or the one hitter. this is because after you light the bowl and inhale, the weed will continue to burn creating a lot of smoke. its you can solve this problem by inhaling the smoke or covering the bowl with the lighter. this is an outdoor piece if your in college.
harshness: can be pretty harsh if you light the entire bowl. if you learn how to corner the bowl, you will be able to control the smoke intake and this will make it easier on your lungs.

 

One Hitter:
this was my 4th piece and 3rd different piece if that makes sense. still a little high. i use this pipe for indoor usage. great for the dorm room and the bathroom i dont have much to say about this pipe. the reason i bought it was because it was 7$ and i thought it was badass. i use this one the most. everyday, all day. im glad i bought it over a cigarette one hitter. this one is glass and its longer then the cigarette ones.



portability: its extremely portable. its really just a glass tube. its the best in terms of concealibility in my opinion.
easy to clean: again, really easy to clean due to its shape and size. although the bowl can get pretty grimy, which requires you to clean it more often.
size of bowl: the bowl is fairly small, the smallest of the 3. you can get about 3 good hits for it before its cashed.
simplicity: it doesnt get any more simple. although i would add a screen so you dont have ash in your mouth. with this piece, i dont think it would make too big of a difference.
smell: its the least smelly piece. you can smoke wherever and not get caught.
harshness: its not too harsh, its glass which helps. the pipe is about 4 inches in length. im glad i got it over a metal cigarette one hitter. i really like this pipe because i use it a lot.

yeah i agree, but the inside of the bowl is tough to clean, especially without pipe cleaners. but you can definetly get it clean

 

the one hitter changes color a little, and so does the spoon. the chillum does but only a little bit
