Spiritual Stimulation

  1. I'm really interested in using weed and other psychoactives to explore spirituality and philosophy. Do people know of really good, spiritually stimulating things to do/think about while high?

  2. try magic mushrooms..... youll never see the world the same

  3. Think of your brain as divided into four segments. If you were to look from above it would be a plus sign dividing it into four quadrants.

Now, when you're really baked try to think of the front right side as red. Tune out the rest of your brain and focus on that front right quadrant and associating it with the color red. Do this for about 30 seconds.

Then isolate the back right quadrant in your minds eye and think of it as being blue. Again, tune out the rest of your brain and focus on making the rear right quadrant the color blue. Do this for another 30 seconds.

Then shift your focus once again to the left front quadrant of your brain, now think of it as being green. Focus on making that quadrant green, and forget about all the others. Do this for another 30 seconds.

Then shift your minds focus one more time to the left rear quadrant and think of it as yellow. Do the same thing as above.

They key to this is really seeing the colors and feeling them in each diffreent part of your brain. It's hard at first, but if you are determined it's a pretty neat experience.

Repeat this several times until your head starts to tingle.

If aliens start talking to you you've done it for too long and invaded their frequency. :smoking:

As far as philosophy goes, that's up to you. Read, interpret, ponder.

  4. try thinking...of absoulutely nothing.

its very very difficult, but once you find that place, it is instant disassociation. from there, with practice, you can go many places.

  5. In essence that is the purpose of the exercise I posted. You concentrate on one thing and one thing only so intently, that all the trivial thoughts in your mind cease to exist. All there is are colors.

  6. If you were to want to really go for it:

    1) Meditation. If you want to explore new mental states you need a calm, clear mind in which they can become more readily perceived. Simple shamatha meditations from Hinduism, or Mahayana/Therevada Buddhism are useful. No need to take any of this aspect to extremes. Controling the mind is just a tool that makes the below far more effective.

    2) Understanding. Transcendent states don't just come about because of what you might do to your mind, but also by learning to break through normal concepts about reality - it's form, nature, etc. Begin by looking at the idea of Sunyata/Voidness and co-dependant origination (again in Buddhismand Hinduism) to help you see that reality doesn't manifest in the way that it might appear, thus helping you break through normal reality.

    3) Higher understanding - 'View'. Study Mahamudra and Dzogchen texts to help you understand the reality that meditators discover in realisation. I prefer the Nyingma tradition for this, in particular a write from he 13th c called Longchen Rabjam. View is a faster route to realisation than traditional meditation, but both need to be used in conjunction.

There are a lot of other supporting things that you'd really need to help you on your way, but the above is a good start and the central core of what you might do. There are no rules and regulations however, if you've found or find something that works for you then stick with it and explore meditational tools to help you increase your experiences.
