I'm a fairly new grower with experience growing herbs and food, that being said i wanted to write on my experiences of spider mite infestations on my other plants and see if the same solution would apply to MJ. so I had a few tropical trees, strawberries, peppers, lemon balm, and other various herbs growing inside by a windowsill. I, being a stupid newbie to growing anyting, brought an outside plant inside and before i knew it i saw mites all over ALL of my plants. it was bad, my peppers lost 90% of it's leaves and my strawberries only had one leaf. i started to spray with insecticide, but it only lowered the mite population a little bit. Soon after, I noticed a zebra jumping spider hanging around and the plants it was on were mite-free within a week. then a lynx spider made a home around my pepper and had it cleared within 3 days! between these suckers and the humidity my mites were gone in 2 weeks, i pruned the damaged leaves and have checked them everyday since. Long story short--> why are small jumping spiders so under used, and why not use them on any plant! they don't produce webbing, and they're a common house spider so you're bound to see them somewhere. I want to put one in my cab, and if it gets hungry I'll just sacrifice a moth. Any thoughts?
Lets just face it people are generally not to keen on the idea of living with spiders. Some thing about the eight legs and eye's just set off that natural eewwwww factor. But i do know of one insect that isn't to bad to live with Ladybug's. They eat the microscopic spider-mite's and any other little bugger that would harm your babies. Just water the ladybugs once out of bag and leave little trays of water around the grow. The reason for this is that they will be dehydrated once bought. Also, once the food supply is gone so are they. You can get them from any hydro grow shop or gardening supply store. Good luck.
