Spider mites 4 weeks into flower, organic

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Mauifarmer, Oct 27, 2011.

  1. I am new to the medical marijuana world. I have dutch treat in fox farm soil in containers on a balcony. All organic.

I Have spotted a few spider mites on my ladies! Is it okay to spray at this point? I used azamax in the beginning (from
Clone) and pyrethrum just once in the middle! Can I azamax again?(that stuff seems awesome)

Also just saw powder mildew, any good tricks for that?

And I guess, might as well throw one more in there. I use general organics grow (4-3-3) for veg and add roots organics hpk (0-5-4) into the mix for flowering! I am a beginner and I am still trying to figure it all out. How often should I feed and am I using allright stuff?

to get rid of the spider mites you may want to use the azamax two more times, but only hit the leaves, DONT get the buds. make sure you get the undersides of the leaves really good, because thats where spider mites like to thrive. you can also use a few pyrethrum foggers, just make sure the lights + all other electronics are off when you use it. both ways would be considered organic.

PM on the other hand is harder to get rid of. i believe the best way would be to spray an all organic fungus on the plants that actually feeds off of PM. the product is called Actinovate, and it is a "predator" fungi that attacks and eats many different plant pathogens, including botrytis and pythium. other ways to fight it is to keep your humidity levels around 40-50% and to keep temps in the 68-80 F range. this is important to do at "night," because nightime is when fungi (like PM) prefer to germinate. a few home remdies to fight PM are 1 tsp per gal of baking soda (again only on leaves during flowering). another is to use a water milk mixture. some people go 10 milk: 90 water, some go 50:50, i guess its personal preference. i have personally never used this method. one important thing to remember, the more you spray, the more humid the air, and the easier it is for fungi to germinate.

nutrient prefrence varies from person to person, you just have to experiment to see what works best for you. i personally like to build my own soil with sphagnum peat as a base and add things like kelp, dried blood, bonemeal, guano, potash, ect. i use hygrozyme & molasses sometimes when i water. during veg i colonize my soil with bacteria from Great White, but the same bacteria comes in other brands like Voodoo Juice. i use Humboldt Nutrients Organic Bloom & Organic Duece Duece periodically during flowering if i believe my plants need an extra boost of nutes.

just keep your pH in range and try to keep the EC of your soil around 1-2

  3. Thank you for the knowledge! Much appreciated

  4. I am having the same problem, only I am at harvest in about a week or less. Have I lost my crop? Looks like about a half lb..I hate to lose it. What about a water cure?

  5. Try Middleton's Spider Miticide. $7.99 on ebay it's all natural ready to use and it works. Most natural spider mite sprays only confuse mites to not lay eggs if they even work. This stuff kills on contact and prevents existing eggs from hatching. Good luck with your medicine and happy tokin'!
