Spending Christmas in Middle Earth

  1. And I'm kind of geeking out about it.

Because I can't afford to go home to England this year, I'm spending the holidays with my girlfriend and her family at their home in New Zealand. I haven't given it much thought until now, but since we're rapidly approaching Christmas it's all I can think about.

The region where she's from is, as far as I'm aware, the coolest place on the planet. And includes:

The brewery where the beer drank at The Prancing Pony was brewed.
The jeweller that forged the rings. Three for the elven kings, seven for the dwarf lords, nine for mortal men, yadda yadda yadda... one ring to rule them all.
The woods through which Strider leads the Hobbits toward Rivendell.
Dimrill Dale, where the fellowship falls to their knees in anguish after losing Gandalf to the Balrog.

Yup. I'm sad that for the first time ever I'm not spending Christmas with my family. But it's really hard to be upset when I'm going to Middle-fucking-Earth.

Anybody else have wicked cool holiday plans?

  2. man, i used to date a girl from NZ. she was one of the coolest chicks i ever met.

your christmas sounds so dope dude. write some music man!
i just started my soundcloud up yesterday.

  3. My cousins are from NZ, lovely country apart from the rotton-egg smelling sulphur! :smoke:

And this christmas is the same as every other christmas
Getting baked and eating too much

I guess it's like every other day for that matter
    :smoke:

  4. I fucking love Lord of the Rings, I'm actually jelly. :(

  5. Maybe it's a NZ thing. My Kiwi girl is definitely the most rad chick I've ever met, though I'm probably biased.
I'm so stoked for my Christmas

And checked out yo' shizz over on the music side of GC. Dig it. Hopefully being in what I'm forever going to refer to as Middle Earth will inspire some new tunes.
