Specific "how to" dispensary question

    I'm totally new, like I've said, to cannabis. I plan to begin partaking after the full legal date in MD, July 1 this year.

    I've been looking over all the strains available and I just don't know what I want to try first. I think I want any of the "happy" strains but idk if those strains will do that for me since my whole physical self seems to be medically weird.

    Here's my burning dispensary question-is it ok to ask to test strains to see how they affect me, and to follow up that question how do I ask to not sound like a clueless dick?

    Just be clueless and let the staff know it's your first time. They'll be happy to hear that, and happy to help. And, testing strains is perfectly normal. Keep notes on what you like.

    If you are medical they may have an introduction program
    I went through one, it was about 45 minutes
    They go over your needs and recommend products and cultivars
    Then they go through your first purchase with you
    Think recreational have started offering the same service

    Pick 2 "Indica" and 2 "Sativa". Doesn't much matter what specific ones. Indica tends to be more set on the couch and watch the tube. Sativa stirs your brain with a stick and you need to get up and do something..

    These days a lot of it isnt so much the strain as much as how it was grown and how mature they let it get before harvest. Early harvested headache high weed is known as "sativa". Later harvested relaxing weed is known as "indica". People just tossing names on strains. Anything grown from seed is just a child of a parent strain, could be very different from the original parent that made the strain popular.

    Hon, I volunteer at a dispensary. Tell the budtenders you are new to cannabis, are using for medical reasons, and have zero tolerance. Visit the dispensary before 5 pm and not on Friday or Saturday- these are peak business times. If you avoid those peak times, the budtenders will have more time for you.

    Sadly, you can't ask for free samples, they'd go broke! :laughing:

    Since MD is allowing flower, I'd suggest you buy 3 of the cheap (lower potency) half-gram pre-rolls, or a gram of an indica, sativa and a hybrid bud. The budtenders should steer you toward the lower potency cannabis. You should skip the edibles for now, or stick to half of a single 5 mg gummy- they can be unpredictable in their effects. You may want to buy a glass pipe and a grinder- pipes are easier to use than rolling joints.
