SOPA: the end of the Internet as we know it.

Discussion in 'Politics' started by russian radish, Nov 16, 2011.

1. I'm not saying everyone who uses it is a pedophile, I'm just saying everyone I've spoke to who uses it has told me it's a big problem with it. I also said I could be wrong. Cool ad hom though, really shines the lack of an objective point through.

2. I used tor to get in the deep of the webs, because I felt like it. At certain site, I got scared shitless and I uninstall tor. Never again but I have basic understanding what the deep web is all about.

To be honest, that's what happens when the gov sets up the boundries and it splits the place apart. The deep web isn't what you think to made out to be. It's just bunch of drugs and porn plus secret websites that majority of class don't know about. Most of those sites are design to keep the gov out so they can keep the market niche. If gov never touch the interwebs, we'll never had deep webs. Just like black markets today. It's no different.

Well the good side is that Microsoft, Google and majority of websites are against this bill. Glad to see corps support the free markets even though they did some evil acts.

3. The point of it is anonymity, and there IS child porn on there. Because of the fact that it is anonymous, anything goes on there. That being said, that's certainly not all it's for, and you're certainly not gonna get your activity tracked by using it; that would defeat the whole purpose.

4. I had accidentally found some child pornsites without thor. They just happen to be very secret about it. Gov can't stop them anyways. It's like torrents, they get shut down, new one is build within a day.

Yea me too, I didn't know what I was doing and wound up on a child porn site once. I got nervous about the possibility of me somehow getting in trouble as a result of it, but I sincerely doubted that me just going on to one would be bad, or else they wouldn't be up in the first place. And it's not like I'm a regular who downloads a bunch of kiddie porn, if anything did happen. lol. It's pretty crazy, though, that people are actually into like...legit children. To me there is a DEFINITE difference between CHILDREN like 8 years old and younger teens like 16 or something. It seems our laws kinda look at them as the same, though. When I got on that site and actually saw that there were like kid kids, that really highlighted that to me. A younger teen and a CHILD are not the same thing. I've always held that belief, but that really highlighted it to me.

6. The majority of tor traffic is people seeking to bypass censorship (think china.) Even within .onion sites, child porn is a small minority. You'd know that if you had ever gone on the hidden wiki.

That's because you aren't a pedophile, ephebophilia is very common.

7. Why wouldn't I want to use Tor?

And to other posters: No, Tor doesn't get you watchlisted or anything...

8. Honestly, 16+ year old is fine and dancy to me. They are in 'sex drive' state. But under 14ish, right before the sex drive, that's just immorality wrong.

9. Yea, puberty and the development of a sex drive are the primary things, I would think. Even to go to your extreme, a 14 year old, or 15, that has tits and a nice body and is all wanting to have sex and stuff...I'm not really trying to say any particular thing is right or wrong, but I think society needs to recognize there is a HUGE difference between a younger teen who has hit puberty and developed physically as well as a sex drive, and a young child who hasn't developed at all yet. I feel bad for people who get in real trouble and called pedophiles for something like that. Especially people that aren't that old themselves, just have crossed the arbitrary legal line. They act like an 18 year old is the same as a 40 year old, and a 15/16 year old is the same as an 8 year old. It's very stupid to me.

10. First off, females normally hit puberty between 10 and 11 years old, secondly, why is pedophile a derogatory word? A person cannot consciously control their sexual preferences.

11. Wow. This thread got creepy real fast.

12.
Wow. This thread got creepy real fast.
Qfttttt

13. I can't help but feel this creepiness is all my fault, lol. Sorry people.

14. We had pedophiles throughout history, hell many people in the world still marry children. The word pedophile is just a fear tactic to disorganize the general public. Females are just property of men anyway.

15. you better hope no females enter this thread

16. People need to learn the difference between a pedophile, an ephebophile, and a child molester.

It seems that females are the ones most upset by this issue. I wonder why?

maybe would should stop using torrents and PAY for our stuff!

Taking peoples property for free is very SOCIALIST!

18. It's a network based on anonymity and Tor is not well-known for child pornography. I'd explain why the speeds are 'painful', but you don't seem that interested.

They clearly don't know what they're talking about either. Child pornography has been an issue on the web for the last twenty years (if not longer). Tor is a tool that allows people to access websites anonymously. Obviously, there is an allure for people who are breaking the law. This can include pedophiles and terrorists, but it also includes people trying to escape political persecution for what they do online.

Why would you want to use Tor? It's speeds are pretty damn slow if you haven't noticed. Downloading a torrent using Tor may be alright if the file is smaller than say 20 MB, but downloading large files, like pirated movies would take days (if not weeks) and would use up a lot of the network's resources.

Simply, there are much better ways to download torrents anonymously than to use Tor.
