    So how is this miniseries not being discussed yet? Tonight is the third and final episode on The History channel, and so far, it is amazing! Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) from Breaking Bad plays Benjamin Franklin. Anyways, if you haven't gotten the chance to see the first two episodes, they're running all three starting at 4pm central time, well worth the watch....

  2. Does it jive with actual history? Idk i dont have t.v.

  3. I watched the first segment, a half hour of the second part, and couldn't take any more.  It is total bunk, more historical inaccuracies, and nonsense, than can be counted.  It's a six-hour advertisement for Samuel Adams beer.

  4. from The History Channel???  :eek:

    :laughing:

  5. At the time these events took place, Samuel Adams was a church-going, 40 something, portly gentleman of Boston.  In the mini-series Sons of Liberty, he's a trim, sexy 20 something rebel who evades capture by the British troops by scaling buildings and running across the city rooftops like Spiderman.  It's actually quite entertaining, as alternative history.   The historical inaccuracies are discussed in the following websites;

  6. Samuel Adams Beer was a major sponsor of this series, and the commercials they ran looked like part of the program.  :hello:

    They did not, however, have John Hancock Insurance as a sponsor, to the best of my knowledge.   :devious:

    There is something very American about mistaking entertainment for reality.

    Is this aimed the same crowd that likes to offer blanket-criticisms against the "MSM"?

  8. What is MSM?

  9. main stream media. Fox, msnbc, cnn, all that shitty bias government protecting crap they pass off as news.

    Does the series make any passing mention of Haiti or France?

    Thankya!

    That's actually a good stipulative definition in the appropriate political connotation that I intended it. +5 internet points.

    Thank you I did not know what it stood for and a google search did not answer the question.

  12. I actually enjoyed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, better than Spielberg's Lincoln.

    I totally don't get it, I couldn't make it through that flick -- but you should check out 'Exit Humanity'; a Civil-War Zombie flick. It's low-budget, and they don't really dig into any meaningful historic themes, but it's definitely got that same sort of revisionist-history/occlt-horror mix.

  14. That looks very good.  Thanks for the tip.

    The Vampire hunter Lincoln film wasn't the greatest vampire movie, but it had good special effects and it was just over the top and novel enough to make it interesting and fun.
