Song about making choices

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by Amped, May 22, 2010.

  1. Hey, i have to do an essay on a book called "The Blue Helmet" and the main theme is making the right choices, and i need to compare it with a song and a poem.

Does anybody know a great song that would be easy to use in a comparative essay that talks about making the right choices, or even a poem? :D

Im so bad at this kind of stuff >.< haha thanks for the help blades!

    Rush: FreeWill

There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance

A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance

A planet of playthings, we dance on the strings

    Of powers we cannot perceive

The stars aren't aligned or the gods are malign

Blame is better to give than receive

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice

You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill

I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill

There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand

The cards were stacked against them, they weren't born in Lotusland

All preordained, a prisoner in chains

    A victim of venomous fate

Kicked in the face, you can't pray for a place

    In Heaven's unearthly estate

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice

You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill

I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill

Each of us a cell of awareness

    Imperfect and incomplete

    Genetic blends with uncertain ends

On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice

You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill

I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill

Please confirm that the lyric is accurate... I'd hate ya to lose points on THAT!

An good friend, but he's on remand at the moment. He made a song about choices, I'm mad :smoke: and willing to write out the lyrics, about selling drugs. No idea why. I don't think it would be clear to you if you listened to it, and I'm sure no one on these forums enjoys or relates to the music I do. The brackets are 'translations', it's London street slang, I'm sure a lot of it's come from america but I'll put it in there for anyone who doesn't understand.

Life's all about choices, so make sure you make the right ones. Or learn how to deal with the consequences of your actions.

I'm XL in the game like the size of my clothes,
We move skunk by the ki and B (heroin) and white (coke) by the O's, it's nothing,
That's the positive side but there's a negative,
    I'm only 22, I've done 2 jail sentences.

The wrong road, I was quick to choose it,
Now I got two choices, stay on road or stick with music,
Should I, link the connect, grab a box (1kg of drugs), bag it up,
Tell the kittys (fiends) Rickys back, hit the block and have it up,
Should I get back in the same whip (car), with no license,
Should I really get back on the same shit,
Tell me, is it really worth it,
I've been shottin' (selling drugs) since '99,
I ain't seen a mil (million), is it really working,
Should I hit the studio, make another mixtape,
Try invent a stupid flow, try and get my shit played on mainstream radio,
Get me on the playlist, once a days good enough, I don't need no a-list,
Should I tell them stories 'bout how my team stacks funds (made money),
Bagged up, and when the beef came, how we clapped (shot) guns,
Is it really worth it, I've been rapping since I was free,
And I ain't seen a grand, is it really working,
I got choices, I gotta make the right ones,
'Cos life's too short, before you know it your time's done,
    I'm stuck between the two,
Rap for p's (rap for money), or hit the roads and sling wraps of B (sell heroin),
Tell me, what should I do,
I got choices, I gotta make the right ones,
Life's too short, before you know it your time's done,
    I'm stuck between the two,
Rap for p's (rap for money), or hit the roads and sling wraps for p's (sell heroin),
Tell me, what should I do.

That's only the first minute or so. Can't be bothered to type out the rest. I'm sure this is nothing like what you're looking for. But oh well.

    :smoke:

  6. Thanks man i appreciate that a lot! +rep ! :D haha cant believe you spent that time for me :) Thanks dude!

  7. I'm mad high/ill.
    Damn.

    :smoke:

I'm not sure if that should read: mad, high and ill, or just mad high/ill.
    Hmm.
