Somewhat droopy plant question

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by BigMike!, Nov 29, 2022.

  1. Hi everyone not necessarily a first timer but not the most experienced. One of my plants has been drooping off and on for a week, I'm thinking it's more to do with over feeding but I'd appreciate any advice the girls are 21d old none of the others are experiencing any droop it's just the front right girl :( I do everything about the same for them. 2. You're over watering them, and over feeding, why did you start nutes so soon?

  3. I only gave her a 500ml drink 30mins ago to try and help the droop, and I've only dosed very lightly with nutes recently but the soil has slow release fertalizer balls so I do realise that feeding wasn't necessary

  4. Soil is about 2 part premium grow hence fert balls, 1 part peat and perlite, I've been fairly cautious with over and under watering

  5. Stop watering so often.

And next time.. please don't use miracle grow lol

  6. Oh it's not miracle grow? Either way, don't use that, it messes stuff up after it starts releasing.

  7. I will be more cautious of watering, not sure the brand but yeah I could see the slow release balls causing issues. Do you think she will pull through with *cautious* flushing? Thanks for the help mate

Just water. if you've been over watering you're suggesting more water will help the situation. Lift the pot dont water again until pot is light. Doesn't matter if it takes 2 weeks dont water until pots light. If unsure get a pot fill with dry soil then dont water planted pot until its as light as that plantless pot. Sooner or later you'll get a feel for water weight. By lifting pot right after watering, daily until pot is light. Feeding a plant wont make it grow or produce big buds. Light makes the plant grow, and plants genetics make big buds or doesn't. Better the light faster and larger growth rate. In a slow release medium usually 4-6 weeks before any nutrients are needed. Flushing is hardly ever the answer, only time I'd personally suggest flushing is if the plants damn near dead from toxicity. The other 99% of the time plain water will suffice.

  9. Personally I'd poke a thousand holes all over the sides of those pots. Get saucers and water from the bottom. Nothing to do with your issue. Watering from the bottom will help root growth, holes will provide roots with oxygen and help dry medium more timely.

  10. Get some good soil and transplant at least 1 -2 plants into the new soil. Good Luck

  11. I don't think I've been overwatering as you can see in pictures, the other pots are "dry" only being able to feel a tiny amount of moisture (barely any dirt stuck to my finger), only gave the droopy girl a drink before taking that picture to attempt to assist her, I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and advice I'll update if she gets better and what helped if so

  12. I will try this I did something similar with my first indoor auto and got good results for my first indoor grow. I overfed that one far worse and it turned out ok still

  13. With overwatering, its not really that there is too much water per se, its that there is not enough air in the rootzone because of the overwatering.
Your plants look very much like they have been overwatered. Its also possible that the media isn't airy enough, making it so that even a little water suffocates the girls.

  14. I've learned that overwatering isn't watering too much one time, it watering too much too often, my girls(24 days since they broke soil) have been in 3gal pots now for about a week, its full on winter I am, so low humidity, takes about 6 days before im light enough to water..and if ur soil/medium has any added nutes, wait at least 4/5 weeks before adding any of ur own, there's more than enough to start u out, so me with transplanting up about every 3/4ish weeks, I dont add any nutes till im close to flowering or well into flowering..remember ur plants follow themselves NOT your schedule, and different strains need different care..different plants of same stains sometimes need different things..but keep it simple, growing weed is only as difficult as u make it!

  15. You can't feel over watering from sticking your finger in. Its pot weight. Sticking your finger in isnt a good tool to use to gauge if they need water or not. That plant isnt over fed in the slightest, food just isnt needed right now. Starting to continually add food when it's not needed can eventually lead to excess issues

  16. Okay update I've made some changes, plant droop had gotten better overnight despite the overwatering, I believe the 500mls helped flush a little. I've got myself a water, pH and light checker now and have made adjustments to light height as the LEDs were probably overkill for my tent size, pH tested good most pots were on the wet end but not enough for the others to droop so I think it was a combination of too much nutes, overwatering, possibly aphids too, they are shocking here.
Sorry for being a pest with the newbie questions, I will update pictures tomorrow when they have recovered a bit more but I'm confident they will pull through despite the torture. The aphid problem was very bad but I resolved mostly overnight, didn't realise they got that bad. Hopefully this can help other newbies encountering this kind of droop. Thank you so much everyone :)
Edit: the newer shoots on them are a healthy green I intend on keeping them that colour from here on out hopefully:)

  17. Droop has practically stopped entirely (pot on the left of orange in the corner was the affected plant.) Raising lights and cautious watering seems to of fixed things :) thanks everyone! Wish my girls a happy 25th birthday :)
Also drilled holes into the sides of that pot which has helped airate the soil, which allowed for safer minor flushing due to overfeeding. IMG20221203152837.jpg IMG20221203120726.jpg IMG20221203120854.jpg

  18. Oh and the aphid problem. Gone with a cap of pytherum and some tea tree lightly applied to soil over a few days. Highly recommend as it hardly damaged the plants, and cleared them out thoroughly. Be careful with dosing however too much will kill or damage them :)
