  2. yeah buddy. haha Lassies be where burning is at.

  3. I like hearing stories like this. I wish I had the guts to get up and leave where I am now for a warm sunny utopia.

On the bolded words. They are the same thing. Unless you're saying she took battery acid or citric acid.

  4. there are more people like you than you think :smoke:

i used to feel the same way about it, but then i was like, who am i kidding? acting like a hippy is so big right now. someday you'll look back on this and wish everyone acted like they did in 2010, so enjoy it while it's here.

  5. .

Just gotta look hard. We're almost extinct.

  6. You mean like wiggers trying to act hard?

I was raised on the hippie music.

Don't be the other end of the spectrum either. Don't be the flamboyant tie-dye shirt kid with peace sign garb.

I'm a hippie in my heart and mind. Not in appearance.

    This.

I'm not hating on John Lennon, just using him as an example because to many people he's the "ultimate hippie", but if you compare his personal life (alcoholism, abuse, ditching his first kid and wife) to his message about peace, love and respect, you'll see that there's a huge disparity.

I'm not saying he was a hypocrite or poser, I'm just saying that there probably weren't as many "real" hippies as people think there were. I think a lot of the peace and love message was buried somewhere under the unabashed hedonism, and I think that attracted a lot of people.

The closest thing we have to hippies today are probably those PETA fuckers:rolleyes:

  8. They're deffinately around for sure.

Few months ago I saw about 8 of them that were all traveling in a tiny car at a gas station. They ran out of gas and was asking for a little help from the locals, none of which helped them any. He finally made his way towards us and me and a few friends decide to give him $5 in gas and a few cigarettes. We made small talk and he was a really cool dude, never talked about weed though but that was a given lol. Turned out him and his buddies were on their way to shwagstock.

It's always neat when you spot one, and helping one out makes you feel all warm and fuzzy :)

  9. Eugene, OR is full of dirty hippies. As in they literally don't bathe.

But I like your view in the original post. I love smoke circles with music and conversation, but most of the people I smoke with would rather be drinking and trying to get laid.
Disappointing, but maybe one magical day I'll find more people with the same interests.

  10. He can still be a huge inspiration to anyone regardless of his wife-beating tendencies and his cruel remarks.

Hey everyone is hedonistic to a certain extent. At least that generation had a message that was useful and made a huge social impact.

What messages do we have now? The mainstream is only really pushing get crunk, fuck bitches, and act black even though you are white.

  11. But he's saying you can treat drugs like either a relaxing social experience or just another way to get high.

  12. Theres a lot of hippies up in the mountains of NC, and theres also a whole lot of fake hippiesters

  13. Dude its not really our generation/s fault that the corporations control our media. Theres a whole lot of good music out there, but if it doesnt support there message then it wont be played.

    We are definately still here....................

    But here's the thing.......

I understand the post that indicates that the Hippie movement of the late 60's was just another form of pop culture at that time. While this may have some truth to it, the hippie lifestyle isn't defined by how or why you got started, but rather by where you have gone, spiritually speaking.

What I mean to say is, yes, there were people that adopted the hippie lifestyle because it was the cool thing to do, but, by living in the lifestyle, they have adopted not only the persona of the hippie, but the mindset as well. With this mindset, they have tried to make the world we all live in a better place. That's what it's all about.

Pshchedelics were used not so much for partying, but more for enlightenment. No, we're not saints, we do things just to party, but the drugs are more of a way to open your mind. To see things differently. There have been numerous studies done on the effects of psychedelics on the human mind. The Hollow Mask study is a very good indicator of what I'm talking about. Google it for the whole story, but here's the gist...........

When sober participants were shown a 2-d picture of a face mask that was facing them they quickly identified the mask as facing them. When they were shown 2-D pictures of the mask facing away from them, they quickly identified the mask as no different than the first picture.

Whan participants who were under the influence of pshychedelics were show the two pictures, they saw the differences between the two almost every time.

This is because the human brain recieves an estimated 4,000,000,000 (that's billion, with a "B") bytes of information per second through the combination of all of our senses. This is waaaaayyy too much to process, so our brains don't process it all. What the brain does is it uses passed experiences to "assume" what we see/hear/feel,etc. So, when the sober mind sees the two pictures, the brain "assumes" they're the same.

Psychedelics and psychotropics (marijuana) turn this "filter" off, to varying degrees. This state of the mind allows one to see things from a different perspective, without the effects of our own brains getting in the way, and subsequently, without the influence of things such as pop culture, society, religion, government, media etc.

It is believed by many, myself included, that this is the gateway to true understanding of everything that is of true importance. Understanding how to make rockets fly is not really all that important, when you think about it, but understanding how to coexist with everyone else without fear, on anyone's part, of any sort of attack or discrimination is important. Think about it. Would there be war if EVERYONE could understand how much better we would all be if we ALL just simply looked at things from the standpoint of Earthlings maintaining our planet instead of country vs country? No more "that side's yours and this side's mine". No more compu-global-mega-hyper-net companies existing at the expense of the poor and destitute. Everyone able to TOLERATE each other, and maybe even care about each other eventually. The list goes on.

Sorry for the long winded reply, but this is my thing and I had to put this all out there. Believe me, I could go on, but I don't wanna bore anyone more than I have already.

    Thanks for reading

  15. Yes it is your generation's fault. Just because they're pushing it doesn't mean you have to buy into it. JUST SAY NO.

Think for yourself. Take their media, read it, listen to it, and then scrutinize it with the brain God gave you and make up your own mind as to wether or not you want to buy into it.

No one can control what you think but you.

  16. Yes it is. A lot of us were not raised in the hood and a lot of kids I know have never even been to a club.

I'm not saying don't listen to hip-hop. I'm saying be real.

  17. Preachin to the choir

LOL you're not a hippie. You keep the fact that you THINK you're a hippie a secret? That makes you the opposite of a hippie. You are a tool and a slave to society.

There's no need for name-calling, dude. -JD

  19. Yep. The kids buying up the iPods and feeding the corporations by buying toxic food and drink are a huge part of the problem. So are their parents for abrogating their responsibility to raise them right.
