When I was younger a bunch of little bastard children shot one of my cats like 10 times with a BB gun, went to the vet who didn't help as cats are immune to most painkillers besides anestesia (sp)?. He was fine, just got an absess from one of the bbs... He still has a couple in his chest today. Battle cat
You don't place blame on the guy who shot the cat? While I wouldn't let my cats wander the neighborhood I would let them outside. And male cats wander much further from home than female cats (they have over a 2x radius from home compared to females) which is why it would be wandering the neighborhood and not just around his house. Cats aren't like dogs where you can tell them to stay in the yard. They are much more independent and do what they please. So before you go talking shit at least read a book or turn on animal planet for 5 minutes so you don't look as uneducated.

Absolutely nothing I said on this thread has been false so I'm not sure where you got the uneducated bit. And if you read the rest of the thread I gave a few reasons as to how it could be justified. Just because you prefer cats over other animals doesn't mean everybody else does.
I wouldn't justify shooting any house pet or even any other peaceful animal. It has nothing to do with me "preferring cats" it has to do with what is morally right. It's not like the person was hunting or something. They shot a cat that had no intention of doing anything wrong. And why a pellet gun that will cause the animal to suffer? I'm quite sure an airsoft gun or even yelling at it would've scared it away if that was the persons intent. It was obviously some sick fuck who was doing it for fun.
You missed my point entirely. Maybe the guy who shot it likes the little bunny rabbits in his yard and doesn't want the cat to kill them all. Maybe the guy has a garden that the cat is destroying. The point is, we have no idea, so it's pretty stupid to call somebody a sick fuck just for shooting a cat with a pellet gun when we don't know the reasoning behind it......and if he wanted to do more than scare it away he would have used a .22, not a pellet gun.
You make a decent point, gotta admit. I can't say that I would ever shoot a cat for 'destroying my garden' and I think anyone who does might be going overboard... But you (was it you?) mentioned earlier the thought of someone who owns chickens that a cat is going after. In a situation like that... assuming it's threatening your livestock... and assuming you've already tried other less-harmful measures to get rid of the threat... Then I guess I couldn't really blame that person. Granted only OP knows what kinda neighborhood he lives in and there's still every possibility that it could have been some sick fuckin' teenager who just felt like shooting someones pet with his pellet gun. In that case, definitely a sick fuck. In the case of someone trying to protect their own animals who has run out of options.. I guess not so sick of a fuck. Side note: There were two dead cats found in a town not too far from me a while ago, both had either the front or back (can't remember) parts of their body cut off and were partially skinned. By a human. Now that's a sick fuck right there. Not only killing a cat, but skinning it and leaving the body in a park for anyone to come across? Future serial killer kinda shit. A garden might be an extreme example, but the poster who brought up the chickens (not me) has a good point that I agree with. Yes, definitely a weird kid if he's shooting cats at random. My one buddy used to swerve and try to hit cats whenever he saw them crossing the road.....I would get so pissed at him every time I rode in the car with him. Now THAT is fucked up!
