Some quick questions about my plants

  1. Hey guys, Im new to this forum and I am currently 3 weeks into my first grow! Here are the details of the setup:

    400Watt HPS with Digital Ballast
    6 Big Bud Clones
Soil - 2 Parts Amazon Bloom / 1 Part Foxfarm Organic Sea Mix
    Temp: Between 75-85F
Humidity: Between 30% - 50% (the way my setup is its hard to keep high humidity unless its raining outside :) )

    Im using an Earth Juice Nutrient Program that I made up;

Normal GROW Solution Every 3rd Day
Normal Meta K Every 7th Day
Normal Catalyst and Microblast Every 4 Weeks (ive only done this once so far)

    My Problem -

First off I was having issues with the leaf tips pointing upward. I figured it was from heat stress because I am NOT overwatering and the soil is way to new to have salt build ups (i think??) but I flushed the soil anyways. I moved the light up higher and it has seemed to help that problem but now I have a new.

-I have many different colored leaves. Some very dark, some very light.
-Some have lighter colored spots around the veins.
-Very few have brown (dead) spots but this seems to be getting worse.
-They all have deep 'ridges' as if they were heat stressed but they shouldn't be because the light is 36"s away.
-Some of the leaf tips are pointing downward and some of them are fine. Seems the new growth has the most leaves bending down.
-Also, the plant is EXTREMELY bushy if that makes any difference. Vertical growth has slowed and the plant is so bushy I cant see through it.

I do not know the pH, but I am getting a tester tomorrow and will post. I really dont think I am over fertilizing because I dont do it very often.... Im not sure though. Any help would be much appreciated!

  2. Hey man if it were heat stressed they would start to fold at the leaf edges back onto themselves. I know you don't think it is over fert but, I think it could be. Your soil sounds rich in nutrients and you feed it pretty often so the risk factors are there. After you check the pH, take some pictures and load those up with the results of the pH test so we can see. Natural light pictures will be needed too with the HPS off.

  3. Alright man Im going tothe store now. Will post in just a bit. Thanks!

  4. Hey Honk,

I would definitely say that your plants are probably having some pH issues. Your pH being off can be responsible for a ton of gross little traits with your babies. Your light should definitely be ok at 36" away (if you put your hand at plant height and it's warm, the light's too close).

    Take care!

    Mak~

  5. Thanks for the info Mak.

Alright I just talked to the guy at the grow store and he told me I am most likely over fertilizing so Ill agree with you vtec. The amazon bloom has 30-60 days of fertilizer so Im about two weeks too early.

I didnt get a pH tester because the guy said the stuff he sold me ( dont remember what is called, its like a pinkish rock or crystal... dunno ) will lower the pH and fix my problems if I just give normal water.

    Next question -

Should I transplant into fresh soil or just leach out whats already in there?

  6. A leach might help. You might have to do it a couple of times to be fully benificial.
