Some kind of fungus in res?

  1. doesbt look like many people browse the sick plant forum so trying here. Is this the beginning of pythium or any ideas at all? I used to grow shrooms too and it almost looks like mycelium growing in my res. There’s about 5 spots Size of a quarter that are starting to look like this. Thinking I should flush and try to wipe it out with some alcohol wipes? Plants are starting in 2nd week of flower and hope to god I don’t get root rot issues at this stage

  2. Flush and wipe wound't hurt, I'd probably use h2o2.
What is the water temp? 69 is the target I have read.
I use great white after I got the root rot once, and have never had it since. I'm a firm believer in it.
If you ain't using some sort of something for the water, order some, there is hydroguard I think a lot uses and a couple more.

thanks guys. i wonder if its because my air pump is on the floor of my grow room and sucking in a bunch of shit? going to find something to prop it up on if not just for peace of mind.

any idea how much h202 to use? i have 3% now but would have to order anything higher and would prefer not to have to if the 3% will work

eta: water temp fluctuates between 62-72 depending on how cold/hot it is outside since they're sitting on the ground.

  5. 3% is plenty. I mix mine 50/50 and give everything a good cleaning with it. Air stones, hoses, and res. I have back ups so there is no down time at all.

  6. My air pump is setting outside the tent on the floor...Use some kind of root protection.
Airdiggler swears by hydroguard, and me I use Great White. You can even brew Heisenburg Tea but it's a pain in the ass to do, but real cheap

  7. Add silica to help with watermolds. Add a biological agent as cheap as you can find it. I've used up to 10mL/L of 30%H2O2 when fighting an infection; I flush for 1 hour using that. I then replace water and feed with 1%H2O2 afterwards.
*currently using RootShield as it needs only be applied twice during the entire grow. At seedling stage and at transition.

  8. Rootball about 45 days old or so, 9 days into 12/12 20190213_194659.jpg

  10. You know there has to be a cause for the rot. You have to determine that or be prepared to have it again.
    Lets look at the basics:
Does the air stones pump enough air and do they ever shut off.
Water temp ever get real high? 75--80+
Did you get a leaf in the bucket while inspecting the roots? Foreign debris will rot and bad bacteria will grow

    I'm out of ideas here.
But if you run something like Great White, something that puts the good bacteria into the water, you cannot use H2o2 it will kill all bacteria good or bad

  11. I use h202 throughout my grow to keep a sterile res. Also I make sure not to use anything organic cause it'll cause root slime when pairs with the h202. Just another way of doing things if things don't work out for you
