Creator of mutliple TV shows including HBO's The Wire gave an interview to the Law School at USC. In this interview of the show (it helps to have seen "The Wire") all the way through, he talks about some very interesting things that are going on in American culture. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8E8xBXFLKE&NR=1&feature=fvwp"]YouTube- "The Wire" creator David Simon: Journalists & the Public Squ[/ame] I never thought about how most of our entertainment follows a Shakespearean template where a character's actions is the major cause of his or her success or failure. Especially in America, we like to believe that we are in control and that our actions directly result in our success. The contrary view would be like a Greek tragedy where a character's demise might not because that character is a bad person... more because it was "their turn." Does anyone agree that human lives on a whole are becoming worth less? His argument definitely holds water. He's basically saying that bosses of any capitolist entity are charged with the survival of that particular entity, and tend to ignore the survival of the individuals that contribute to that entity. If you make it to the end of the video, you'll see that the argument is made that very soon - News infrastructure is headed straight into the ground. And because news organizations are the biggest watchdogs of Government/Corporate corruption... what will happen when and if they are wiped out?
