Some Animals Ate My Seedlings

  1. Well I was in the process of getting an outdoor grow set up in my nearby forest just as a small side project. I germinated four seeds and put them in small pots, which I then placed deep in the forest.

Today I stopped by for their watering when I noticed the pots knocked over. I checked each pot and the seeds were gone! Even though it was a "for fun" kind of grow, it makes me sad to know my ride ended so short :(

  2. Kil animals; plant them.

  3. They probably wouldn't have worked anyways. It's hard shit, I tried

  4. Now that's an option I hadn't thought of! If I could only catch those suckers you bet they'd find themselves snugly buried underground

  5. Yeah, I wasn't expecting much out of it. But it was growing season and I had some seeds so I gave it a shot

  7. That's Why it's best to get them to a reasonable size first and get some anti animal defense going. Last year I had a big dear problem(half a dozen local herds) and I just pissed around the plants a few hours after eating a couple steaks every few days. Worked like a charm.

  8. Well I think next time would be more planned anyway, this one was a rushed attempt.. and it clearly showed lol

  9. Could've been a possum the cheeky mongrels. Had a beautiful plant that was only just getting the first signs of buds, heading for a tree sized pound yield, came to see it one day and it was on its side with the whole bottom munched away. Top part lst'd itself and was still growing but by the time I got back there with mesh the son of a bitch had been back for the rest. Lesson learnt

  10. Bury the pots and put a cage over them if you have a inconspicuous spot that no one will ever find. If not you could use fox urine or something similar.

I said do you speak my language, he just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich. I come from the land down under.

  11. Yes most animals will munch them
Cats love weed plants for some reason.

You can make a wire mesh dome thing, to place over them, until they have took a good root and established.

It's a lot of hassle for little reward. And so much can go wrong growing outside.

  12. For sure. I didn't think much about animals because my spot was on a walking path (hidden of course). Plus I didn't really want to be seen walking around with a pack of supplies. I'll just scrounge up some extra money over time and do an indoor grow

  13. Chicken wire
