Today I was in the woods with my beautiful better half and we (quite litterally) came across, a beautiful Aminita mucararia ( Fly Agaric ) mushroom. Any idea the best way to prepare this giant shroom for consumption? Would like to talk with the spirits of the natural world but dont fancy dying!!! Any first hand experience would be of much help. I have looked about on the internet and found much conflicting information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_muscaria http://www.erowid.org/plants/amanitas/ i wouldnt eat it myself personally. id buy an 8th of some magic mushrooms instead, just because everyone reacts differently to it. and it is poisonous.
thanks mate we've looked at erowid and on other site and found that they're supposedly at their most potent when harvested during mid august. which is now! (woo hoo!) Its also been documented (not sure how accurately) that if you heat or cook em they won't make you so sick so hopefully we'll live through it! lol
Agarics are some of the most poisonous mushrooms found in nature. Why risk a bad reaction when you can get magic shrooms.
Amanita muscaria is fine to consume. It more than likely will make you vomit, but if you smoke some cannabis after consumption the nausea will be gone. Before you consume them though, make sure you dry them. The best way to dry them is in an oven at around 200 F. You can get some more detailed information from erowid. The trip is not like psilocybin mushies at all. You can't even compare them. Go for it man! Edit: For the people saying it is poisonous, the dried mushroom is not poisonous. Don't ever eat the mushroom non-dried. The drying changes the toxic ibotenic acid into the non-toxic hallucinogen muscimol.
