Hey brainiac. If you read the link you posted you would answer your own question. Please read before you waste other peoples time. And if you own one wouldn't you know if you could take the tip off or not?

 

I'm confused, partly because he didn't ask a question, and partly because the thread linked is about a XYTronic, which is not a Hakko or Herbiron. The thread also states all you need is a soldering unit with a ceramic heating element that can be exposed.
