Would you use the same soil that you place the germinated seed into as when you move it to a bigger pot and get it under the lights? That Fox Farms stuff is not cheap but, if best then I will do it.
I use FFOF all the way through. I don't re-use the soil once the plants are finished as all of the 'good stuff' is pretty much gone from it. Use the old soil in garden spots outside! I start my seeds in it in a 4" pot and then transfer to felt bags to move into the flowering room. My opinion is the less you handle them and transplant them, the less stress on them and the better they do! Hope this helps!
Hopefully it is the same deal but, I was talking about when moving from seedling to veg cycle. EX: 1) seed germinates 2) place in party cup with soil. 3) when they are sturdy enough move to larger pots with soil to veg and flower. You would not transfer again when flowering would you? Same soil all around? Sorry , if I misunderstood do not want to mess up my first time.
Here are the steps so we don't get mixed up: 1) seed germinates 2) place in cup with soil (I just use a 4" plastic pot, but a party cup is the same idea) 3) I transfer from the pot to the felt sacks (with handles) to veg (my plants are larger, so can go right to the flowering room). You can leave them to veg until they are the height you desire. I keep mine on the short side (about a foot to a foot and a half, or 6 nodes when putting into flowering room). 4) Put your plants into the flowering room for the 12/12 cycle. I don't like to move my plants around from different containers. Stress is bad enough! On me and the plants! I transplant just ONCE...from the 4" pot into the sacks for flowering. One move and I leave them alone except for caring for them. Let me know if I've answered your questions! If not, I will take another run at it for you! This is where you have to be careful so they don't stress too much!
Would the same be done if they are autos? I think I saw a thread where they just placed the germinated seed into a 3-5 gallon pot.
That cleared it up thanks. I got confused because you have two separate rooms. I will be using the same tent. Like the post before mine. I will be growing autos would everything stay the same?
Aha! Sorry I didn't mention that I have two rooms! My bad! Half the time when folks ask questions, they don't let you know if they are using dirt or hydro, but mine are all dirt! I assumed you were by the mention of the party cup! Yep...mine are separate. Hubs is a builder so he enjoyed doing a bit of remodeling. Came out nice and the plants love it! So, I basically have two different environments, with a work area in between. Sounds like you will be up and running!
