Alright I'm still catching on here, I bought some plain Wal-Mart potting soil and when I opened it it was pretty wet, not soaking but moist. It looked almost like clay but loose and it looks like it holds water in good. So is this alright for my seeds? Thanks for any help.
Most likely its not too good. If its cheap stuff theres a good chance it will have bug or fungus issues and if there is any nutrients in there it wont be good for young plants. Be sure and check if it has any nutrients, if so I wouldnt use it.. If theres no nutrients I would bake it in the oven to be sure and kill any bugs or diseases.
I wouldn't skimp on soil. They will determine the amount of growth in your plant. It's a matter of $5 between the worst shit and best soil. A bag of Fox Farm is $11 at any hydro strore. Your grow conditions don't sound optimal for such little amount of money difference it's worth it trust me.
