Well I purchased 4 seeds , plus 2 free so 6 in all. 1 diddnt germinate, 1 got eaten by some little pricks, 1 got murdered by a falling twig and 1 I killed myself so only 2 plants left!..I know, doesnt sound good but its my first time and im glad all of this has happened because ive learnt alot, anyway on with the question.. The two plants ive got are in week 3 and compared to all the posts and videos ive seen are falling behind in comparisment. I think its the soil, im using perlite but the soil doesnt give any informstion as to what in it! It was literally only £1.50 for a 15L bag..so; Ive ordered another 6 seeds and i wanna get this right this time, i know im a little late. Im using pots instead of native soil and want any UK suggestions for soil and how i can check if there nutes because i think this is the cause. Dont say fox farms because I cant grt it around here P.S if your still reading thus far, well done!
Well thats top soil so basically its nothing lol. What country are you in? I can give you a good cheap soil mix if you're interested if they have the things in your country.
Daym haha! When i saw it in store i thought it was just a brand name meaning really good soil :') then i saw other soils called top soil and felt a little retarded. Im from Wales, UK
Haha yeah topsoil is basically just used for filling holes in lawns. But if you can get your hands on these items through garden stores/online you can build a nice organic super soil: Earthworm Castings Spaghum Peat Moss Dolomite Lime Perlite Kelp Meal Alfalfa Meal Other options you can add in there: Bone Meal Blood Meal Crab Meal There's alllooottt of other stuff I'm barely even scratching the surface lol it goes into bat guanos and stuff lol. You should be able to get most of that in Wales or online very easily. Earthworm Castings are seriously like one of the best organic things out there for MJ. It would be best to start your own worm compost bin because they can get pricey. Heres a link to make your own http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/334921-vermicomposting-make-your-own-worm-castings.html?hl=vermicomposting And I suggest you stroll over to the Organic section in the Cultivation part of the Grasscity Forum.
Okay thanks for the help, there seems to be alot of hate with miracle grow amongst the GC community, would using their all purpose soil to add with all of these things be okay?
I've had bad experiences with MG but I've seen people grow dank with it. But if you're going to buy the stuff I mentioned above why buy the soil? It would really be unnecessary money. You can grow directly in that mix I listed and the MG chemical nutes would complete negate the whole organic compound. Which trust me organic is better in terms of smoke taste and what not and you dont have to worry about flushing before harvest or any of that. Nah compost isn't like regular soil. Compost is basically a nutrient, it's a fertilizer. But compost is another good organic thing to add into your mix. Horse specifically just make sure it's aged and not fresh or it will give your plants nute burn.
Okay so i did a little research and compost has to high of a nutrient content so it could kill the seedling, so i was thinking ide go through with what some had suggested; begin the plants in Peat moss and perlite untill they get big enough for nutes, then transplant into compost with msny things you mentioned above, does this sound okay?
Yeah dont use compost or the mix i listed above for seedlings. Seedling mix: Earthworm Castings Perlite Peat moss Dolomite Lime Make sure you have the lime!!!!! Peat moss without it will be to acidic for seedlings. And the earthworm castings are like baby food to seedlings lol so they're always good.
Okay thanks, Hopefully i cant transplant my already 2 grown plants into this mix, youve seen the thread of my latest transplant and turns out its not even proper soil! Time to start the process all over again
Lol I wouldnt do it again. Save that mix for next grow. Another transplant would be too much for them. You can use the top soil you'll just have to make teas and stuff for nutes when the time is ready. The benefit of the mix i listed is it really only requires water if you have all the right stuff in. But it's up to you I personally wouldnt transplant again but its your plants man.
Usually around the 4th node. But I find it's best to watch what your plants want instead of going on a schedule. When they're roughly 3 weeks old they'll be getting hungry and you'll notice the bottom leaves getting yellow.
Also start a grow journal, it's a good way for a lot of people to keep up to date with your plant and help you out along the way.
