Soil questions

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by snackstick, Nov 21, 2014.

  1. Ok guys in the past I've used fox farms soil and their nute line and have had success but this time around I want to try organic. I got myself a soil recipe went to the hydro store as I'm filling up my cart the store owner says why not save yourself some time and just buy soil that is ready to go.

Sounded good to me so he sold me four bags of Nectar For The Gods #4 he said just water and you'll be fine .
That was yesterday and all day I have been thinking that was way way way to easy. Help me out guys has anyone used this soil before? How right was the store owner and keep in mind in his eyes I'm growing some amazing dank tomatoes so maybe that's why he suggested that brand

  2. Once someone mixes stuff together for you and puts in in a bag, you've already paid at least twice what its worth for the value of their experience and help in doing that, whether you wanted or needed that experience or help from them.  So if you were about to buy all your own ingredients and then got sold a premix, you might not have got "ripped off" as such but you probably got a less-good product for less-good value than mixing it yourself.  The store probably makes more money on those bags than the raw ingredients.

I'm sure that it will be sufficiently good though, if it can grow tomatoes it can grow weed.  Good luck!

  3. 20$ a bag 1.50 more than ffof the store owner is a good down to earth guy I've been shopping there for a long time he's always very helpful. There has been a few times he's pointed me in a creeper direction because it was better when he could have sold me more expensive shit.

  4.
Does Fox Farm even sell non organic soil? I am confused you said you wanted to switch from them so you could grow organic and they are as Organic a company as you can get as far as I am aware.

  5. Ocean Forrest IS organic and loaded with enough stuff for a month. You probably could have made. 4 times as much if you had just got amendments and OF.

I'm sure he was trying to help and he's a nice guy and all, it's just true that if I buy a chicken and a loaf of bread and some salad for like £5, I can make awesome sandwiches all week instead of paying £20 a week buying lunch someone made for me already in a shop.

It's kind of a shame that you went in there planning to mix your own soil, which would have been a cool adventure, and you ended up with a premix, but like I said I'm sure it's good :)

  7. I guess it will have to do for now next time around I'll mix my own lesson learned

  8. If it works for you ,I say  go for it ,
I just dislike these nute companies who try to take something simple and  apply stoner science rationalization to make you think you are getting something special.

Organic growing  is about building your soil and letting nature take its course....

    enjoy
