soil question

  1. So I cleared the back part of my lot off about a year ago, got around to planting some trees a few months back and noticed there were a lot of worms in the soil, the soil is dark and the trees I planted look very good. the lot had been overgrown with pines and a couple of hardwood trees for about 20 years. I just took a soil sample and measured the ph with a reading of 6.49. Would this be a good soil to use. Would i need to add nutes to it. Also I have been having a ph problem for a few weeks now, it always seems high6.9-7.2. I am 5 weeks into the grow and my plants are showing signs of lockout. Is it too late to transplant, does any one use soil like this(from their backyard)?

  2. I wouldnt use backyard soil. You don't know what's in the mix or what pests you will be bringing in.

You're better off buying a proven soil mix.

If you insist on using your back yard dirt, you will want to sterilize the soil by baking it in the oven for 15-20 mins.

  3. didnt even think about the bug possibilities, wont use it now. thanks

  4. very wise choice.
