soil ph

  1. How do you test soil for Ph using litmus paper?

  2. dunno about litmus paper but you generally test the run off for soil ph

  3. I've tried using the ph strips for soil, but the problem is that they need to saturate with liquid to have a reaction. If the soil is wet enough to saturate the strip, that means that the strip is mostly measuring the ph of the water.. not the soil. at least that's what i read and expericned.

Luster Leaf Rapitest ph Soil Tester (#1612) for soil. Less than $10 online. I've searched and it has good reviews, and is by far the cheapest soil ph measuring method.

  4. fuck that rapidtest soil ph tester. I bought 2 of those for my first grow and their useless.

when your growing mj and want quality you need to be able to test in the .1 increments. the rapidtest goes by .5. Too big imho.

However soil usually has more leeway in terms of ph but heres what I just bought for $12

i'm still getting used to it but I thought I would throw it in here so that you can test your soil run-off.

With the rapitest color chart, you can really read increments less than .5 When the color is between 2 of the shown colors, the ph will be inbetween also.
Does that ph tester work for soil? or just the water in the soil?
Nice and cheap and good reviews no matter what.

as long as this charts accurate, 6.5 for soil looks to be the sweet spot

  6. To get the PH up just buy some hydrated lime and mix in a little, as well as possible. It takes a couple days for the PH to rise.

    edit: don't use baking soda.

thanks got it. ph problems was caused by the ph of the water. I now have a ph of 6.5, spot-on.

when using that rapitest kit, the soil and test capsule get mixed with water... and the ph of the water is important.

  8. i use distilled water and i dont have any problems with ph ever
