Soil mix

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by dubs_okaygo, Sep 9, 2018.

  1. I'm shooting for a water only grow ( maybe a tea every now and then ) with some of the soil amendments I got from my garden shop get together.
I'll include pictures of each ingredient as well as the amount I added per amount of media . If anyone has opinions , tips, concerns, suggestions , whatever I would really love to hear them as this is mostly an experiment and also a shot in the dark .

I started off with roots organic potting soil- 1 gallon (cut with perlite )
    Rhyzoforce- 2 tsp
    Great white - 1/4 tsp
Roots organic elemental (cal mag) 2 tsp
Roots organic foundation - 1 tsp
Mother earth grow amendment - 1/2 cup
Dr root- 1/2 tsp on the top half inch of soil.

I have a few other amendments I could add, but thought this would be a good start. If you think I should add anything else of what I have please let me know. I'll also add what I'll be using as top dressings and tea brews.

    First what I used :

    Here's what else I have : 1536513566853.jpg 1536513572495.jpg 1536513576855.jpg 1536513583298.jpg

  2. The rest of the tea I'll be using 1536513840610.jpg 1536513854388.jpg

  3. Anything you plan on using specifically during flowering? Do you have a tea that will boost P & K and also feed the living microbes in the soil?

  4. You’ll need a lot of soil for a water only grow. 15 gallons is a good size pot to finish in. Start in two gallons, transplant to 7 gallons after a few weeks. Transplant to 15 gallons and veg for a week before flowering.

Im not familiar with any of those ingredients though. Usually just use organic amendments and rock dust with a peat/coco, compost, Perlite base

  5. The Peruvian seabird guano and MOAB can both be brewed alone or with the cultured teas/top dressed. I actually forgot I could use moab , thanks for bringing that up.

  6. The plan is to mix as I go . Once it's time to transplant I'll make another more powerful blend for late veg, then a few days before flower I'll either do the same or at that point just top dress. I'll have to tackle that bridge when I come to it.
Everything I used either had worm castings, glacier rock dust, soybean meal, kelp , alfalfa meal, crab meal, oyster meal, ect. I can add a list of ingredients in the morning if that will help but I did check out the simple no till ingredients and everything on there is in the soil through one of these amendments

  7. Give it a shot. I’m not sure how it will turn out without a proper cook time for the microbes to break down the amendments, but I’m sure the first time someone grew in DWC, it was an experiment too.

  8. I could always hit it with some mammoth water then a dr root tea to get things going before I plant. I'll do that tomorrow actually .
    Thanks for the help

  9. Yw man. I always approach my soil grows with the same concept, 2 gallons to start, 7 gallons mid veg, 15 gallons to flower. I’ve been running the coco DTW for awhile, it’s gonna be refreshing to get back into soil.

  10. Since I'm only using a 2x2 and 4x2 the biggest I can go is 7 gallons and 5 gal in the 2x2 . Unfourtantly I dont have room for my 4x4 right now so that's put away .

I just ended up with so much free shit from that event that I figured why not try as many different things as possible.
Usually I'm just straight up nectar all the way , but you never know if theres something better out there until you try.
I also have a few bags of coco so some point down the line after my nutrient "battle" is over I'm gonna try that out too.
