I was going to do the Clone Wars thing but couldn’t settle on a 4th method and the pain in the ass of dealing with 4 different techniques, I decided to scrap it for now So here’s what I decided to do instead. We are going to compare two different nutrient lines in Hempy Buckets, as well as try water only supersoil against a Geoflora organic nutrient amended Happy Frog soil. I will follow the nutrient company’s recommended feed schedules and for the Masterblend I will supplement Flower Fuel after week 2 of flower. Clones cut about a week ago. Two rooted well enough to transplant into the 3.5L hempys and got their first drink of nutes.
Thanks buddy. Got some 15 gallon pots cooking with my supersoil for later. Thinking of throwing some clover on top and doing a couple as no tills? What would it take to convert supersoil?
IMO, no till is the best. I might need to start another tent just because I don't have much to do and will have less to do once I get some blumats. What's in the super currently? It shouldn't take much to convert to no till.
My base is 2 bales Sunshine mix #4 (3-6 cu ft per bale), 20 lbs composted chicken manure, 20 lbs ewc, 1/2 big bag chunky Perlite. Amendments are: Alfalfa meal Kelp meal Neem seed meal Biochar K mag Dolomite lime Oyster shell flour Feather meal Fish bone meal Crab meal High phos guano High N guano Seabird guano Glacial rock dust Basalt rock dust
Your base ratios are a bit off. You have 10 (for ease) cuft of SPM, approx 2 cuft of your compost element (castings and chicken shit), and maybe 1 cuft of airation (perlite). I would add 8 bags of Malibu BU compost and more airation. Try and find some scoria or pumice as they will stay put in the soil. I would add 6 more cuft of airation. All in all, you are looking for 1/3 of each SPM, compost, and airation. The issue with your base is that it is way SPM heavy. What are the amounts of your amendments? Should have 1/2-1cup of each of the meals per cuft, 4-5 cups per cuft of biochar, and about 1-3 cups per cuft of the combined rock dusts. I have not used the guano or k mag so not sure on the appropriate amount.
The sunshine mix has coarse Perlite and coco mixed in, About 20% of each. It also has microbes. I should be good with aeration. I am way light on compost/humus though. I knew I was a little light at 3 cu for per bale, but didn’t read that the Sunshine mix expands to 6 cu ft per bale. Good catch!!! It’s been cooking for about a month already, and I actually have three plants in use. I’m a little light on amendments too. I figure about 24 cu ft total now and I think I put 6-8 cups of each amendment in. Damn.
The soil clones have rooted and planted into one gallon pots of their media. One clone is in Geoflora mixed with Happy Frog and Perlite. The other clone is in a 1/3 layer of Happy Frog mixed with supersoil and 2/3 layer of straight supersoil. The ingredients are pictured, along with Biochar, glacial rock dust, basalt rock dust and the base Now, as mentioned above, my supersoil may not be so Super due to ignorance on my part. However, I have some White Shark ladies that are absolutely killing it with Recharge and kelp teas
10 days into the comparison All clones doing well, except the One in the Geoflora amended Happy Frog soil. Looks like it may be a little hot for the young clone. I’ll flush tomorrow and see how she does.
And the mainline begins. Equal height, equal nodes. One is a little thicker than the other, let’s see if it transitions into a better yield.
Well, the Supersoil is killing it, 10 days since transplant and already topped and beginning the manifold
The soil growth rates shouldn't be anywhere near the hempies or Coco. I've done many side by sides. I even did percentages of amended soil cut with Coco (20%, 30%, 40%).. I decided straight 70/30 high quality Coco and perlite was my preferred medium. I do plan too try some Royal Gold Tupur on a few 20 gallons next Flower Cycle, heard good things. Experiments are always fun though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
That’s what I use for coco. It’s great and clean right out of the bag. So far the supersoil growth is similar to the hempys or better. Hempys have been in 2 weeks, ss plant only 10 days. The hempys took a few days to kick into gear since the roots had to reach the res.
That makes sense. If the roots didn't reach the res yet. Are you using straight Perlite or Coco/perlite with a few inches of perlite in the bottom for the hempies? Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Hempy should are rocking right along. Got a little hot on the Keygrow Nutes so I backed them down some. The supersoil clone is killing it!! Geoflora is starting to gain some momentum but Supersoil leads all as of now!!
Dam got enough room.️I used straight bud, all bud, very sticky bud. Not trim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @ I love growing weed
That’s not their home. Just a nice spot for a photo op. Here’s they are last Sunday , right next to my res.
