Soil and Transplanting question

  1. I have a few questions, I am about a week and a few days into my grow. My plants are about 1 1/2" - 2" tall and they are in party cups. I will be going out of town for 6 days and I was wondering if they could survive with out me. I am debating whether or not to transplant them into 3 gallon pot . Is it too early to transplant them into bigger pots? Also I bought different soil to transplant them into and I was wondering if I could mix the two of them together because one of them perlite and that stuff in it the other one doesn't. Thanks in advance!

  2. IF they have a few inches on them, you can probably re-pot them now.But they will be fragile...
Try to take as much soil around the root as possible - this will reduce the stress on the plant, when you transplant them.

  3. Can I leave them in the party cups for 6 days without watering? Or will they run out of water?

  4. i think they'd dry out in such a small container for 6 days.

  5. If you want to leave them in the party cups for a week or so... I don't recommend it but if you need to.
Punch 4-5 holes around the bottom of each cup and sit all the cups in a few inches of water in a tub or something. This will keep the soil inside the cup damp while you are away. Best solution i could think of. either that or get a friend to water for you.:smoking:

  6. Ok so which would be better, not transplanting my plants and risking them going dry for a couple of days. Or I can transplant them but risk damaging the roots because they are so young? Which do you guys think is better? Thanks

  7. i would re-pot them, I've re-potted seedlings with success. just be gentle, patient and don't rush it.

  8. you can repot them after 10 days or so with no problems as long as you are carefull just take your time and things should be fine let us know how you get on:smoking:
    PEACE
