SoG Super Silver Haze and White Widow Max

  1. Awesome update man, the girls are looking groovy :D:wave::smoking:

  2. Mornin' Ghost

    How are the girls today?

Nice budporn :hello: Glad to hear the mites are under control, so sorry to hear about the mold on the one indica :(

Congrats on the confirmed female :yay:

  3. Girls are doing good. Spider mite case is officially under control. Also, since I added pH down to the water a bit, the plants aren't yellowing as fast. My big indica has really thinned out into basically stalks of bud. Since it's my first grow, I don't know what to expect, but it's pretty neat looking.

Pics bad since I lost my camera, so had to use the phone.

The silver haze has been putting on good growth although it was slow at first to show sex, but unfortunately it stretched so much that i had to tie it down. It has responded well, however, and is showing good growth all over.

The white widows have taken a beating with nutrient issues that I couldn't figure out, although that pH down should have helped. One of them has lost a lot of leaves and the leaves around the buds have stayed really small, which doesn't seem totally right. Does that look healthy?

Then finally, the four headed shrimpy white widow is just not doing great at all. The yellowing spread from the bottom until all that are left are the four buds, and I doubt those will really go too well. I know they aren't under-nuted (using fox-farm's open sesame right now), and they aren't exhibiting burn, so my only guess is pH problems, although my pH seems neutral from the litmus. Hopefully the pH drop will help some.

If anyone has any suggestions, help me out.

  4.  you got some stretch going on somewhere dude :D

  5. Hey Ghost .. ..

I'm just stopping in, Ta see how your doinG .. .. ..

    Not bad man, .. For a first time ... .. ;)

    Plus 1, .. .. :)

  6. Yah Thunder, you might be on to something there. :p

Ok duder, I didn't read very far back, so if I've missed info fill me in.

They are all in flower, yes? What light are you using?

What strenght nutes did you feed?

What is your run off pH now?

  7. They are all in flower. I'm using a 400W HPS on Sunrise Hangers as close as I can without burning my hand when I put it at the canopy top for one minute. That is about 6 inches away with my circulation fan running.

I've been using 1/2 strength nutes every third watering, with watering being about every two to three days, depending on dampness of soil. I've been using the Fox Farm Tri-Pak of soluables, as well as a basic "grow" fertilizer when they were in veg. I just switched from Open Sesame to Beastie Bloomz.

The run-off pH just tested around 6.7, but that's after I've been using some pH down for the last two waterings because of my pH lockout suspicion.

  8. What about their lives in veg? What lights were you using then? You didn't do any topping or fimming, no?

Your nutes sound complicated to me for a first grow. The best advice I got on my first grow was to keep it simple and try not to love them to death. ;) I'm not familiar with the Tri Pak u mention, what's the deal with that? :)

  9. Im unsure about all those nutes too. I usually only use veggy nutes, flowering nutes and then some molasses. Give groovy enough results, I do sometimes hit them with something advanced but I didn't use to, I also always take it easy on the feeding.

    Good luck :smoke:

  10. Totally, keeping it simple for the first few grows is the best way to success imo. :)

  11. I used to have success

  12. Shhh. :poke: :p

You still do, although, you may wanna get that cool tube this week. or I sense a return to fuglidom in the bbq. :p

  13. Nothing is in the BBQ  I'll try to do an update when its lights on

  14. lmao. yea, but what Thunder calls fugly, I call beautiful. I'm not to the point that I can even have anything fugly since this is my first harvest. Beautiful thing though is that I'm seeing my first cola develop.

In veg, the plants just had the veg nutes every third feed half strength and there was a 400 W MH bulb. I didn't top them or FIM, which I regret, because the Big Indy was topped and it branched out and has behaved a lot better.

Yea, second grow I'll be going hydro and keeping it on a really light and simple nute regimen. Looking at bubble bucket designs right now. Most of my mistakes have just been from giving them too much nutes...I killed half my silver haze crop that way. :( You guys are right.

About the stretch...I'm keeping the lights low and I used MH during the veg state, so I was surprised about that much stretch...At one point they were going like an inch a day, lol. What else can I do about that?

  15. LST next time :devious: :p I can't leave a plant untrained these days  I tie, top and supercrop :D:smoke:

You gonna be growing with cat balls soon huh :p

  16. Yeah Thunder is right, lst is groovy and will save you height issues. If you top or fim as well then you'll promote more growth in the side branches imo. :)

Make sure your light is positioned correctly and you'll get bushes instead of stretchers. :)

I started out with the Ionic range of nutes in hydro, they're real simple to get the hang of. One word of advice, for hydro in particular, feed nutes according to the ppm reading, not the instructions on the bottle. ;)

  17. so ghost.... lets talk...

  18. Looking good bro!

  19. Teach me the ways, Yoda. I am ready to learn.

Here are the things I've learned so far in my first grow:

    1) When in doubt, less is better with nutes.

    2) Be patient and react timely but do not jump to conclusions.

    3) Keep the grow room super-clean and organized.

If I'd followed those rules, I would have had a true sea of green at this point, which was my original goal.

I did LST, topping, fimming, and supercropping all the way through the grow in different combinations on different plants. Unfortunately, the ones that survived and were female were mostly the ones I didn't touch. *Ghost cries* However, I learned how to work with the plants better, so I'm confident I can make them much bushier and productive for the next grow. I'm also going to go hydro and try doing a screen. I'm already popping new seeds right now and I might try a screen on some of those for fun or not.

  20. Mornin' Ghost

You've learned a lot, you should be proud! :D Several people don't make it more then a few weeks on their first grow attempt - look how far you've made it. :smoke:

We'll help ya, no worries ;)

Hope you have a great day!
