So What?

  1. Today our professor started the class by getting half the class onto the stage and giving everyone 5 poker chips of different colors at random, white being 1 dollar, blue being 10 dollars, and red being 25 dollars. then he explained that we had to trade the chips with each other with the attempt at getting the most money.

The rules about trading were kinda complicated, but long story short some people had alot more money than others, and when we were all done trading the professor told the people that had more than 150 dollars in one group and everyone else in another.

The group with alot of money was very small, and the group with a small amount of money was very big and crowded (small stage). He explained that this is a simple version of how the money is spread out across the world. And that was it.

He didnt give any explanations, any possible solutions, anything at all. Its a world events class and he was just trying to explain the unfair-ness of society. But it left me pondering...so what? What do expect people to do about it?

    Your thoughts.
