Long time Halo nut here. Played the Halo Combat Evolved like it was going out of style. Four console system links with 16 people crammed into one apartment were some of my favorite nights EVER. So, back in 2007 I bought a Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360. Played it religiously till about a year ago. Disgusted by the steaming pile of crap that was ODST, I packed up my console (In its original box) and put it in my closet. Fast Forward to a month ago. Excited to play Halo Reach I pull out my trusty(i thought) xbox. Hook it up, and I am greeted with an error screen and the e74(i think) error code. I did all the things they tell you to do, but not luck. So i register for a repair on the xbox website to have it repaired( under some special warranty extension based on the error code) and i ship my console out. Three weeks later my Xbox is returned to me thanks to the kind UPS man. Rejoice! No. There is a letter in with my console stating that it couldn't be repaired due to an (unstated) issue with the tamper labels. I immediately call customer support, and after 45 minutes on the phone I was able to "Dispute the Tamper Issue". I was told that i should call back with my reference number in 4-6 business days. That bring us to today. 7 business days later. I call back to get the (hopefully good) news on my console. After spending 10 minutes waiting to get through to my "Elevated Claim Specialist" I am told that The reason my warranty is void is because the serial number on the back of my console doesn't match the one on the front just above the usb ports. Turns out Wal-Mart has a history of selling people "New"(refurbished) Consoles... I still have the receipt from the purchase and the serial on the back matches the one on the receipt but not the one on the one on the front. I am seriously thinking of going to the walmart i bought it at (which is pretty much in my back yard) and making a bit of noise. I know its been over 3 years but i at least want to let them know that it is fucked up and bc of it they will be losing a few customers. I know This is what i get for buying electronics at Wal-mart, but still Fuck Wal-Mart!
I would assume so. But seeing as it has been over 3 years and i technically have no way to "prove" it wasn't me that tampered with the console I don't see any legal action having much effect.
i would go to walmart and bitch SO hard. bring your paper from microsoft and then take your recipt and bitch till you get a new one.
I would defininatley bitch at them for that. You paid for a new product and along with that product comes a warranty/service plan. If you cant use the warranty because they gave you a previously used unit its their problem. Go in their and make em give you a free xbox haha.
Wal Mart sucks, I feel you bro. I went to get a new Ethernet cable for my 360 today and they were out of the 50 foot ones and then I tried to get a wireless adapter and they were out of that too. The 2 things I needed they just happened to be out of stock :/
walmart employees will give you a new one, they dont want the attention of you bitching on them haha.
I will probably go tomorrow. It is after 8pm here and seeing as its a Friday i doubt there is a legitimate manager working. Some is gonna defiantly gonna have to deal with me tomorrow. As far as the good goes, You have no idea how hard it is to talk to customer support after blazing a big ol' bowl of keif. Or maybe you do...
Weird, I've taken a broken xbox back to walmart before haha. I'm not saying that it's yours or trying to be sarcastic or anything, but really I've taken an xbox back to walmart before because it was broken
Don't bitch at the people (As much as you want to), it's not their fault and yelling at them won't help you out. Wait till you get to the manager then start screaming. Plus I would e-mail a site like Gizmondo about your predicament, be sure this gets some publicity.
I know a lot of people will buy a new one at Walmart when their old one quits, swap the stickers, then return the broken one as the new one. That could of been what happened to you
aight, the plan see, is at the stroke of midnight alpha team will rig the west side of the building with low grade explosive, mean while b squad will find way through from the roof. once we blow the wall a squad will bambard the cash registers while b squad proceeds to rig the insie of the roof with high grade explosive. alpha team will have to move out quickly before the police get there. b squd will be left behind. alpha will have to set a distraction by setting fire to a near by field or building, that should give enough time for b squad to leave unnoticed. when all clear the code will be "the oyster wears a fine wrist watch", then boom. no more walmart. and i have given you all cyanide pills to be gentely placed under the tongue in case of capture. any questions?
Funny, Last winter we got a shit load of snow and Wal-Marts giant flat roof almost caved in bc it had like 5 feet of snow on it. They had the store closed for 4 days.
