So my parents are officially insane.

  1. So today my parents were pissed off at me because I slammed a car door and because my sister was "snippy" to them and began to yell at the two of us...Basically a normal day in my household when my sister comes home.

Anyway, eventually it got onto the topic of weed. First they called us stupid for smoking weed without seeds, because it's "manufactured" instead of grown...And that the government is tainting all weed so that it pretty much turns everyone into slaves of the working class. I said "yeah, they're really pushing weed, my probation shows how much they like us smoking" then they got even more angry

They started saying that I'm in this mess because I didn't vote (I was 15 the last election), and that I have to vote for the lesser of two evils (meaning Romney over Obama). I told her that I won't vote because they both suck. Then they went on about how I'm ignorant about the Constitution, America, world news, the Bible (I don't know why this came up...). This continued for roughly 10 minutes, then they said that I'm "right where Obama wants me...to not vote" to that I replied "what about all of those campaign commercials?"

The two of them were enraged at this point, saying that he wants the unemployed people to vote for him, so he's making commercials, and that I should vote for Romney because he's better for this nation.

So....yeah..../rant I guess. I'm just kinda pissed because they called me ignorant when I try to keep up with the news, and their only source of knowledge is going to church and my extremely right-winged aunt that constantly sends them forward e-mails.

*sigh* this next year of living at home is gonna blow. I should've transferred schools instead of commute....

  2. F*cking parents man... I don't understand them half the time.

  3. I agree with the title . Spot on .

  4. you have no right to complain about politics if you aren't going to vote.
nor do you have the right to have an opinion on politics if you are inactive.
you are neither helping or hurting anyone by not voting.
its just being an ignorant kid.
    you act like youre 16.

if you live with your parents then don't smoke bud in their house...
    its not that hard.

  6. It sounds like your parents are ignorant as fuck

  7. ....you did read the OP right?

sounds like his parents are/were old hippies with a "holier than thou" attitude.

  8. I know that not voting means that I "don't matter", it doesn't take away my right to an opinion on politics. When all the reasons I'm given to vote is to choose the lesser of two evils, I really don't care...I feel like that southpark episode...I'll vote when there's actually something worth voting for.

I also don't smoke in their house. I can't even if I wanted to due to probation.

Anyway, that doesn't change the fact that my parents have been psychologically abusing me and my siblings since we were young.

  9. ya i read OP.

i just hate when people complain about politics when they have done nothing.
if you dont plan to vote, then dont talk politics.

  10. Sounds pretty pointless to me. Why didn't you just shut up and say their right to just end it? Or even just say mom/dad I really would prefer not to get into a political debate at the moment. Really quit going against the grain and making it harder then it needs to be.

  11. lets just all agree to this one and final thing, no need to vote cause all the people running are illuminati anyways. Conspiracy theories ftw

But to op.. your parents are just as crazy if not crazier than mine, I feel for you bro I know that shit sucks just wait till you live on your own and it'll alllllllll be better.

  12. Well I have to agree, your parents are insane. How the hell did they come to the conclusion that seedless weed is manufactured by the government?

  13. Yeah, I'm stoked for next year, I'll be on my own and 200 or so miles away from them.

They used to watch a lot of Glen Beck, Jack van Impe, fox news....all that fun stuff. My parents would soak what they said like sponges. I can go on for hours talking about what they think the government is doing to "get us"

  14. So much fail in one post..

  15. Lol @ this fail argument

I hope you know that popular vote is irrelevant. (read: electoral college)

It's rather pointless to vote anyway, whether Romney or Obama wins, the country is going to go the exact same direction. The only reason I would vote would be to pad Gary Johnson and the Libertarian party, to hopefully prick up some more ears about him. Your vote can't change policies, repeal laws, or stop wars. Your vote is useless, and therefore there's no reason to use it.

Anyone who actually knows politics will tell you this exact same thing.

  16. Vote for Gary Johnson.

  17. By not voting he technically is voting -- for no one. Why would somebody vote for someone they don't like? There's a HUGE difference between not voting out of laziness or a "fuck authority" attitude, and not voting due to lack of acceptable candidates.

  18. Coy amp ember. I hope your trolling. That's the dumbest thing I've seen on here. Worse than that guy shoving nugs up his ass. Because op and many others here refuse to vote between two shit bag human beings we lose the right to an opinion? Everyone has a opinion even if it's ignorant as fuck. If you wouldn't mind going into detail about how those who don't vote lose an opinion on politics.

  19. who says he cant?

  20. sounds like your parents are the ones that are high lol
