  1. i just recently bought a 4x4 grow tent.. and just would like some input on everything.. i am recently new to growing indoors i have done a couple outdoors but when u grow outdoors its not as much complicated.. well not complicated just more to have to do inside then outside.. so here it goes.. i just want some help setting it up and maybe someone to mentor me through the process.. not tell me what u do just give me suggestions if i am doing something wrong or different..
so this is what i got so far..

    one LSD clone in soil..
    one Skywalker OG in soil..
    and one BlueTooth in soil..
one 400 watt hps (which i think i am gonna veg with)
one 1000 watt hps( what i would like to flower with)
    one 4x4 grow tent.

now i know that i have to have exhuast and intake.. so i have two duct prts on top of my tent one is 6" the other is 8" and i also have one of the bottom left corner which i think would be good for intake.. it is a 6".. how does this sound like im doing so far..

  2. sounds good so far growdanksmokedank I would say you would just need a 6" inline fan with around 450 cfm's to exhaust your tent, might be able to get away with passive air intake but i'll let some of the pros answer more on that. Do your lights have a cooltube?

  3. thank you VincetheLorax... i appreciate it.. and yes that was my next move was get a inline fan i found one with 450 cfms for like $90 is that a good deal or no.. and how many should i get just one.. and i was thinking maybe a 6" duct booster fan of like 150 cfms for intake would that be good.. well what exactly is a cool tube.. i have 6" duct on each side of my hood.. for venting i was assuming..

  4. To be honest i'm just growing in a 2x2 tent right now with 150watt hps so I don't know too much about the intake but your plan sounds really good, a duct booster would probably be enough for intake considering it sounds like yes you do have a cooltube. Basically you can hook your ducting up to the hood of the light to pull air through it and out of the tent, this way no hot air accumulates right next to the plants its immediately pulled out.

  5. ok then yes its a cool tube.. i can run ducting on one end and out the other and none of the air in the hood will ever touch the air in the tent.. well thank you for your inputs though.. you have answered a couple of my questions.. and good luck on your grow..

  6. sry I don't know too much about that sized grow, good luck to you to post some pics once you get started! :smoke: :)

  7. You just need a vent out. Usually you can strap your carbon filter inside the tent ducting to your light if your using a hood or cool tube then out the tent being sucked by a inline filter.

In my case I have a Large LED panel and just have the carbon filter to ducting to inline fan thats on top of the tent. Intake is provided by opening a flap or negative air pressure. Either way plenty of air will get in.

Make sure you get some Duct Tape..the gorilla tape is best and a pack of zip ties. Both are incredibly usefull.

  8. Well it is day 4 since I brouth the babies home.. They are looking healthy and looks like new growth.. I took some pics.. But I think the hps messes my camera up.. Also I cant post becausevi am on my phone no house computer... So have to wait till I go to my buddies house to upload..

  9. Well it is now 2weeks since I put the babiea under the light.. Had a couple problems.. One being ph since I didnt have a ph meter. Now I do.. And I also have gotton more.. so here it is..

  10. During the vegging and flowering cycles, the plant utilizes different light temperatures.

For example, during veg. you would want to use 6500k which is a white light that you would see in a doctors office or hospital (CFLS) or (metal halide). During flowering it seeks 2700k which is a warmer more yellow light. (HPS)

you can read up more on lights here All About Lighting

  11. So your saying its not good to veg under hps

you can veg under hps, but mh is,better for vegging. It provides the optimal spectrums for vegetative growth.

  13. Oh ok ya I know that.. I just have the 400 laying around and dont have the funds to go buy a full mh setup so I was like hey it will work

  14. depending on what kinda set up you have for the hps, you may be able to just swap bulbs if you decide to grab a MH, otherwise.. use the hps, but i would recommend adding a couple cfl's (btw 4000-6500k), goodluck:D

Ya I was thinking of going and getting a couple t5 strip lights.. And no I dont have a switchable setup.

  16. Sorry for taking long time to post.. I had a couple things happen all at once.. But anyways I got some updated pics.. And I switched from 400 to 1000 watts.. Here some pics.. When do you think I should switch to flower.. Remember I only got 6 feet of space and that needs to include the light hanging.. I was thinking about another week and then switch..

  17. Hi Growdank, I can't tell how tall your plants are. I would say that some of those ladies look to be between 15 and 20 inches tall. At least six of them are ready to flower, I can't tell the maturity of the rest but maybe some of them are ready also. Did you lst a couple of them? I am pulling up a chair for this one, it looks real good to me.

Hi there GarillaGrower.. How are you.. And yes id say about 15- 20 inces havnt measured.. But the sad part is the bigger girls are like two in a half weeks younger then the small ones. Just bad genetics I guess. I was thinking about going ahead and flowering.. Just dont know.. And yes I LST two of them. And thanls man hope I can keep up..

  19. Growdank, you have a really cool set-up. I know several people who do the veg and then flower all under hps. You know they just change the setting on thier timers. They produce great smoke, trust me I have had it and I don't pass it up. Some of them do complain of stretching, you know a little more than the guys I know with T-5's but it's very hard to argue with excellent smoke! I be watchin ya dude.
