So I have to write a paper on drug legalization

  1. I have to write a sociology paper on the effects of society if Drugs were legalized.

All drugs would be legal, from Weed to Heroine and Cocaine.

Are there any good websites or places where I can find any information?

    Any help is appreciated!

  2. if youre going go so far as to say that heroin and cocaine should be legal, you should figure out first what that world would be like. heroin is a harsh drug, cocaine im not so worried about. the problem becomes user-designated control; undoubtedly there will be a significant rise in overdoses and and blood dysfunction due to dirty needles.

if you think that meth should be legal, than youve just become crazy. meth is the dirtiest drug ever concieved. i suppose my biggest pet-peeve with meth is that its entirly synthetic. theres nothing at all natural to it. but a country of tweekers would destroy our nation. it is now and its illegal.

just be smart about your report. i know your not appealing to me, but if its one thing i cant stand it's ignorance towards drugs.

  3. Damn, I wish I had a link for you. Someone posted a video about this a while ago, and it was quite good. Do some forum-skulking and see if you cant dig it up.

  4. Ahhhhhhhhh, thanks guys for the help, and to the first poster, yeah, even meth... EVERY SINGLE DRUG.

I'll watch the video when I get home from school, but my basic thoughts are that...

    A) not so many would be in prison, because many people are in prison for the possesion of drugs, and for stealing shit to get drugs.

B)The Government would get a LOT of money.

    C) People would be crazy about it for a couple of years, maybe a couple of decades, and I think that a lot of people would die from overdosing, but I think eventually people would realize what they should and shouldn't do.

Again, thanks for the help :D

  5. I would disagree with that. Just because the drug would be legalized, does not mean its use could not be regulated. There are clinics now where addicts can go to get their fix. Even if we did not go that far we could simply give them a needle when ever they buy the drug. I do not think there would be an increase in dirty needles, because needles would be a lot easier to get. There could be a rise in overdoses, if people were to over-indulge, people do it with alcohol. I know that today heroin kills about 2000 people a year, the same amount who die from aspirin and alcohol kills around 80,000.(source). Actual information would be more readily available however, that could even be a requirement. People would buy their heroin, get their needles, and some information about dosage and effects (positive and negative).

I would argue that the use of meth should become legal, or maybe a better term would be decriminalized. Instead of locking people in jail for using meth, we should send them to treatment centers so that can get help. I do not think anyone should have to go to prison for using a substance, and I do not think the prison system really needs drug addicts, there are bigger fish to fry, as it were.

I cannot stand ignorance towards drugs either. Locking people up in prisons for taking a drug is beyond ignorant, it is a waste of resources. Trying to win a war that is impossible to win (the war on drugs) is also ignorant, it is a huge waste of resources as well. There is real crime out there to fight, not the invented crime the War on Drugs causes. You want to make a huge dent in crime? Make drugs legal. Making drugs legal would put a serious dent in organized crime, many criminals would lose out on a lot of money. New and taxable industry would be born.

People are going to do these drugs whether they are legal or not. No law is going to make people think twice about doing a drug. People might say they don't do drugs because it is against the law, but that is not the case. Some people who do not do drugs do not do them because they believe DARE and the lies that are spread about them (some people simply have no interest, legal or not). I used to think cannabis was fucking evil, that it would and could destroy lives. I eventually decided to try it (cannabis), because what the government said about it could not possibly be true. I knew to many people who did it without the ill effects they were supposed to be having. I am a cannabis smoker now (obviously), it is still illegal. Drugs may be dangerous, most things in life are, but people are going to use them whether government says they can or not. The government has no right to tell someone what they can or cannot put in their body, and the laws against drugs are simply unjust and unwarranted.

  6. i dont know about the drugs like that company was trying to patent or whatever but the way the film plays off seems like the drug industry would soon be taken over by corporations and whatnot.

and then we would have another thing to hate. and then eventually there would be a sort of reversal role in this game. like right now we want to do drugs and not be afraid of punishment and we all feel that its our right to choose what we do to our bodies. but then i see it as now the shit is legal and we are all having a great time getting really fucked up and all of a sudden we start hearing opinions from people who were habitual users, saying things like well i dont think anyone should do these substances cuz it messes you up too much or something.

then there will be people asking for shit to be illegal again. based on their flip flopping ideas of the government legalizing just so they would make good money from it.

of course the movie doesnt really portray weed being a really bad like they do with heroin, but i think if they just made the organic stuff legal then maybe it wouldnt be such a prolbem.

i say we all vote for that black guy cuz i think he would be for legalization and then these pharmacutical companies would have his back on shit cuz they would end up making a large sum in the end.

  7. Haha liquidtruth. Anyone mentions legalization and bam! ;)

  8. Yes, let's vote for that black guy

  9. writing my report right now, so any more input would be greatly, greatly appreciated :D

  10. Those are good points man. Esp letter C.

Do you mean Barrack? He might not even be a candidate yet.
And do you just think that because he is black?

  11. I would probably say something like...

Our country was founded on the principle that each person be allowed to make their own decisions. If it is not hurting anyone else then why is it any of their buisness.

On a side note in colonial america it was illegal NOT to grow pot. Dazed and Confused anyone?

  12. It'd be fucked up.
If so many people can turn violent off alcohol I'd hate to see them given access to Cocaine or Crack.

  13. We need to keep coke, meth, crack, and heroin off the streets. LSD and shrooms and pot and X(served only in clubs) should be legal. If we legalized all drugs our society would be fucked up. Police stations would run out of business and..... if people use the illegal drugs. Rehab

  14. That about sums it up.

Liquidtruth speaks my mind on this one, I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

  15. "...if its one thing i cant stand it's ignorance towards drugs"
