  1. I must admit I don't think any of know who we are including myself. How could I ask to be here before I was even conceived. Theory of Relativity. Please explain your theory that I possibly requested my existence. I always open to new revelations..

  2. When I was a teen I thought of myself as a liberal and was for Eugene McCarthy. As the years passed I became a Democrat. In my 30s and early 40s I became disillusioned and flirted with anarchism but that gave way to libertarianism and eventually I became a conservative but kept many of my libertarian views. Now I'm a conservative who believes in treating everyone the same, I'm pro LGBT and hate gay bashing but don't like the in your face style of the activist, I'm pro abortion because I think a parent has the right to murder their children, I know that's really fucked up but there it is.

I couldn't vote for Trump after seeing him mock the disabled guy but couldn't vote for Hillary because she's such a hypocrite and for other reasons. I voted for Johnson because even though I didn't think he was mentally qualified I saw him as being the only honest candidate. Now I'm pro Trump but I do see his warts, I think he truly has America's interest at heart and not his political party's interest. I see the Democrats in congress as fucking idiots and don't think much better of the Republicans. I hope that doesn't insult anyone here because that wasn't not my intent, just my opinion. I'm still a registered Libertarian.

  3. Of course I don't know either, just something to consider.

    1. I believe we were created by a mind

    2. Some aspects of this mind can be inductively and deductively acquired

    3. Free will seems to be an integral part of this experience

So it seems possible that we had the free choice to incarnate into this reality

It can also lead to some other interesting conclusions. If we had knowledge of the good/evil of this reality and decided to partake any way, we must have thought it was worth it or that we could make it worth it.

  4. You know me. A was a right wing flag waving Republican statist, even kind the Marines. Now staunch AnCap. Black and yellow is the only flag I'll fly.

Each month, Jane * breaks the law. She does this to stay alive.

Jane is a Type I diabetic, which means she requires insulin to keep living. The problem is a 10 mL bottle of insulin in the U.S. has a list price of about $450. Jane estimates it would cost her $3,000 a month to stay alive without insurance.

“So here is this medicine — it is life-saving, keeps me alive — and here we have a few companies who are preying upon people who don’t have a choice but to take this medication or we die,” she said. “So, how do we get it? How do we afford it? Where do we get it? Where are we being forced to go? The U.S. is the only country that gouges [patients]. It’s insane.”

Jane buys her insulin illegally from Canada, where a comparable bottle of insulin costs about $21.

“It makes more sense to purchase it from Canada, where life-saving medication is affordable,” she said. “These prices won’t make you make the choice between going to the grocery store to put food on the table for you and your kids or buying insulin.”

Jane is not alone. According to a 2015 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report, nearly 5 million Americans bought their prescription medications from other countries in 2013 to save money, despite federal restrictions.

A more recent poll published in November 2016 by Kaiser Family Foundation found 19 million adults in the U.S. imported medication from Canada or other countries.

    ‘You Can’t Afford Not To’
Though it’s illegal, risky and a process to import her insulin from another county, Jane says the benefit outweighs the risk.

She first started ordering insulin from Canada in June 2017. The pharmacy she uses does not have a license to ship medications into the U.S. Instead, the pharmacy mails the insulin to a P.O. Box Jane rents in a city in Canada.

Once the medicine arrives at the P.O. Box, an administrator calls Jane to ask what goes on the customs form. Jane says, “health items for personal use,” and the inulin gets mailed to her in the U.S. However, customs can hold shipments for up to one month (Insulin requires refrigeration for long-term stability.).

“It’s kind of a process to get medication like that,” Jane said, adding that she usually gets her medication within four days from the time it leaves the pharmacy. “The cost to mail it is pretty expensive. Still, it will be exorbitantly expensive here in the U.S. I will continue to purchase it from Canada because the cost is so cheap that you can’t afford not to order it from Canada.”

That is Capitalism, and it`s grubby paws on your bank balance.

France and Canada for fair comparison.

  6. Why Americans Pay More for Prescription Drugs
A number of factors can impact drug pricing, such as the costs of research and development and the amount of competition in the marketplace, said Sandy Walsh, FDA spokeswoman.

Other causes include direct-to-consumer advertising, lack of transparency, the country’s free pricing system and a ban on federal negotiation of drug prices.

    Ban on Federal Negotiation.

What We Know: Medicare is one of the biggest U.S. buyers of medicine.

The Problem: U.S. law prohibits Medicare from negotiating prices directly with drug companies.

    You are being screwed/fleeced/dying younger

Yet as a Nation the US spends 17.8% GDP on Healthcare.

    Europe spends 11.6% GDP

The Greatest Nation also has the highest infant mortality rate of the next 12 developed Nations.

Yet here you are, defending a PRIME example of Capitalism, relative to us all, and laughing at more Socialist nations, as you pay more to die younger.

    Way to go! :coffee:

I totally agree that the drug companies gouge Americans. It's an easy fix, too. Many years ago Medicare made a rule that providers can't charge anyone less for services than they charge Medicare. It's as simple as that, that one rule saves Medicare billions. Pass a law that if the drug companies charge, for example, Mexico $43 a month for a medication they couldn't charge Americans more than $43 a month or they wouldn't be allowed to sell their medicine in America. Problem solved. This is totally my solution, I haven't heard anyone else propose it, what do you think?

  9. See post 985 Ed. Why would they harm profits?

  10. Exactly.

Lesser pay because to each according to his ability.

  11. Where I come from (which is of no one`s concern).....

Award-winning series Breaking Bad would NEVER have been made.

There simply would have been no need.

This show and indeed it`s creation, (clearly a 10/10 BTW) is a direct result of the dreadfully unfair system you all defend so vehemently.

    I despair.

  14. What instructions? Can you honestly say you watched that show and learned how to cook unmentionables?
Did you believe Hollywood when they stopped a train and stole ammonia anhydrous?
I'll admit the brother in law made a funny stooge, but.... c'mon. Not even a clue?
I think they had some decent technical advisers, but still, Hollywood stopped way short of "school".

Larry Flint won that Hustler court case because the porn was seen as art. There were still restrictions. Ha!
Its ok though because I am reading Will Durant and I understand these things now :smoking-rapper:

    how's your rabbit doing?

  16. I'm not a statist bruh

  17. Would you believe me if I told you I did time with Mr. Flint?

  18. the epitome of capitalism... no doubt you are tainted. Did you know him or just like 'on the unit' with him?

  19. I wouldn't say I knew him. Passed him often in hallways, gave him a cigarette while watching TV once. He had his boy pushing him around in his wheelchair. Pretty much an asshole. Quite unpleasant. Federal Prison Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
