So, America. Let`s Talk SOCIALISM. like adults?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Slick21, Aug 15, 2018.

  1. and as a matter for discourse, I believe all our societies need to change. The driving factor should not be earnings/annum; earnings should be allotted by age group. Social programs from high school beyond program people/appropriate the necessary resources. You decide in high school what you want to be and that's what you become. People's new driving factor is directed by progressive achievement to the human race. Fear mongering becomes obsolete. Age of Aquarius dawns on mankind.

  2. You American?

If so, are you glad you live in a land of freedom unlike some of the other countries you listed?

If not, do you donate 1/10th of your paycheck every single week to feed hungry children?

    Serious question.

  3. “earnings should be allotted by age group”

Am I reading this correct? So once you hit a certain age you automatically get a raise, no matter what?

If that’s the case then yeah I’m all set with that. I’m the dude that gets up early in the morning and busts my ass all day every day. I make sure quality work gets done. I’ll be damned if the six slackers next to me receive the same pay cuz they’re the same age.

  4. but you're like me man I Love working hard using my body, thinking, writing... that aint going to stop. The slackers are slackers. that aint going to change. What is going to change though is that people wouldn't become doctors for the paycheck, instead they would do what they wanted. They still need to work lol, but imo, the value of the janitor is the same as that of the doctor. The doctor does what he does because that's what he is. He(she) tries to help others because its innate, not to mention that society's values now rewards his achievement, not his bank roll.

  5. You could start a trend and start handing out 10% of your pay each Friday on the street corners?

Just pick one homeless person and set him/her up in an apartment?

And by the way - public tuition IS FREE for 12 years.

After that you’re expected to stand on your own 2 feet - like so many before you.

  6. So the doctor shouldn’t be rewarded for his extra 12+ years of school that the dude pushing the broom doesn’t have to worry about? He shouldn’t be rewarded for being responsible with peoples lives? He shouldn’t be rewarded for having to sit and memorize and less countless drugs and body parts and drug interactions and learning how to perform surgery but he should make the same amount as the guy with a spray bottle and a squeegee?

    Really?

I’m guessing there wouldn’t be too many doctors out there. I know I wouldn’t waste my time. Why would I when I could mindlessly push a broom?

Nobody could give me hell about it.

  7. My philosophy? Leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone. If I want to give to the helpless, I’ll do that. On my own. Not forced to. The US govt is inefficient and bloated. Why give them more power and more money? Do you think they have our best intentions?

  8. you are obviously not a doctor. The doctor is a doctor when he is a student... he likes doing that stuff. And he gets the same as the guy pushing the broom gets, so what. He's there because he wants to be there; his role. Everyone has a role, but there is no need to let some fall in the cracks. I'm not scared of a world where we see a sick person in the street, we stop, we call the people and they come to help him somewhere, they get treatment (maybe permanently). I think it would lead to a progressive world that would reach farther than this solar system. I want a Brave New World all right. If its not that, its war, death, and poverty. Ultimately I am a trekky and follow similar beliefs as Gene Roddennberry (no way we can diss that guy unless yur his wife lol).

having to sit and memorize and less countless drugs and body parts and drug interactions
I do this. I do this as fun, its like crosswords or something to me. Its innate. And then I come to GC and other forums and share my knowledge if I can, but I more learn though. I don't get paid. I will one day probably die... poor. I try not to care about that stuff too much and just fret about not having enough money sometimes to create new cool things for society (which I have and I'm not here to discuss that).

And Jerry, I'm almost done my kitchen floor, but that granite is so heavy! Some work is just satisfying. (my back hurts lol).

  9. You know I agree with most of everything you say man. But ideally I would rather have a 'Starship Trooper' kinda system. No money. Just maxed out achievement with best intentions for all.
I do not think that the officials in our current government bureaucracies have it right. Maybe one of them idk.

  10. No, I own a car. Stereotype much? I just disagree with socialism because I like my paycheck and believe in the American dream. I don't think handouts are a solution to our problem except for giving free education to those who have a household income of less than 80k. I think the only way to combat poverty and to strengthen our economy and country comes by educating the citizenry. I pay to have out-of-network health insurance and don't see why others cannot do the same once given the opportunity of education. I believe more people could own a home sooner if they weren't in debt once graduating college.

  11. So do you believe in a free education then?
I stereotype plenty. Lots of them around. Doesn't mean that's all there is to a person, but sometimes it does.
    Look at that guy.
btw, many are not rewarded at all for it. Postdoc anyone?

  12. Free or greatly reduced cost for those below a certain income level. Educating people can only benefit America. I paid for my education though. Also are you doctor of anything more than bullshit?

  13. that.is.socialism.
and IP, please, just stay away from my Aldous Huxley library.

  14. Who runs state and community colleges...

Where do they get funding from? The federal government to some extent...

Do you know about FAFSA? So "socialism" already exists to some degree in the realm of education. Oh yeah, who pays for public schools?

  15. Just to clarify.

I only burn the communist and Marxist literature you subscribe to.
Other than GC, I mostly just read science papers and classical philosophy and a lil history. I also think everyone should just get paid the same, or at least have wages capped. 100k/annum. done. I don't see why anyone would disagree with that concept (unless they make more than that of course lol). You still need to work for it though. Don't want to work harder? Good. Go take a break. And btw, that also includes free housing, free medicine, free everything... pretty well. The money you earn is just for kicks. You think it won't work? Then why does the internet work? Let's not forget this all started as shareware.

    I don't support socialism.

sounds like you partially do, or at least acknowledge it. And I am fully aware that socialism is everywhere so I find the topic a bit moot; but I am also aware that there are dedicated agencies whose purpose is to warp the public's perception to believing that having a monopolized commercial system under the guise of capitalism is patriotic; its a sham which undermines the true nature of progress. I want that starship already.

In America we work hard for what we want and to be what we want.

So do people from all over the world. Some just don't get the same advantage to actualize. And then there's corruption...and definitely overpopulation.

Unless you are elderly or disabled then you can get your ass to work.
I honestly don't think it matters. In the New World Order, they will work or be shamed. I don't understand why a person in good health in body and mind wouldn't want to work. One of the best things you can do for a man is to give him a job.

Why should able-bodied people be given a handout?
Because they are not able-minded. So that they can live. So that they have a chance to reach the whateveruwant to call it Dream.

And btw, I didn't approve the ideology of sloth; more one of Order. I'm a little more Orwellian than that.

  16. This whole thread is a troll.
    Now I see the humor.
    Adios.

  17. Sounds like you want a country full of Slackers - because if you did, that would be a great way to go about it -

Salary cap... I’m as far from it now as one could be but you Cap my salary and I’m immediately in Slacker Mode - I’ve got zero incentive at that point right?

You’re not gonna say that I’d do it just because it’s the right thing to do right? Cuz that would last about two seconds...

  18. I look at it as entertainment - once you accept that then it’s not so bad lol

  19. Have you been out in the real world much? I hire as often as I can get them thru the door these days and it’s 1 out of 20 that is actually worth anything - and probably less. Most are late, call in, don’t pull their weight. The ones that do are rewarded with raises and advancement - but their good attitude would stop in two seconds as soon as they realize they will be making the same amount of $$ as the dudes that do the bare minimum.

  20. The perfect example of a functioning socialist unit is the military. Free healthcare, all treated equally, clearly defined roles and salaries, all given the same opportunities, etc...

Anyone who has served in the military has lived as a socialist.
