After scouring the GC threads for weeks I thought it was finally time to join after I scored a used DBV for $75 off eBay. I was a little concerned about buying used but this was the one I'd had in mind and there was no way I could pass on one so cheap. The seller said it's only been used 15-20 times so I'm confident it should be in as good of condition as he described.

    A few questions:

    1. The seller said it had been in storage for about a year. I'm definitely buying a new whip (and screens) as I can tell from the picture that its creased. The wand and mouth piece are both brown so they obviously weren't cleaned before storage. I was planning on purchasing new ones but as much as I'd like to save $$ I thought I'd soak them in some hot 90% ISO for as long as it takes to get them clean. Will this suffice? I'm primarily worried about it being free of germs (you never know). I'd prefer not to boil it to avoid stinking up my house.

    2. The plastic base is cracked. I can see it in the pictures and it is indeed still intact. Is it necessary to buy a new one or really only personal preference? I like my stuff clean and nice so I'll be buying one eventually, just not sure how urgent it is.

    3. Anything else I'm missing? I'd like to have everything I need when it gets here in a week (coincidently the same day I can smoke again!!).

Exited to join the vape community! It's been too long.

Edit: Any help on differentiating between the new and old style wand? I tried zooming in of the picture but I can't tell. I know they take different screens.

  2. The mouthpiece and wand you can order new online for about $20-25.

The tube is very cheap but you can go to a hardware shop and buy a big tube same size, and cut it to size.

The broken base shouldn't effect much, replace it if you will.

I would say this has been used alot more than 15-20 times, the wands filthy and buildup takes a while.

Cleaning everything with iso alcohol or boiling it will clean it completely, you really don't need to replace any parts here (except the base if you want)

  3. Its definitely used more than 15 times, but they're solid enough units it should work and work well. Id get a new wand/tubing from 7th floor. Id get an SSV set as they're about as cheap and higher quality in my experience.

  4. Since it has been used quite a lot I should I save the ISO and let it evaporate to get the "resin"? I've done it with other pieces, but never a vape, and never something thats been sitting for a year. I would hope it'd still be good

  5. He could have had crack in there! But really though if you're worried about germs I would just clean it and save the resin acquiring for when its your resin

  6. That's a great point, part of me just hated to see such potential go to waste!

  7. Honestly man, if it fires up and works, soak and clean the wand/mouthpiece, and replace the tubing.

I guess you can throw the resin/oil away to be safe, but just clean the mouthpiece and wand with iso alcohol

The base is like $20 of 7th floor's site but even that is just cosmetic

clean it all up, use it, if it works, you're golden

if it doesn't work, contact 7th floor to have them fix it for $25 (plus shipping I'm guessing), and they can swap the base, etc.

Local headshops should have replacement whip tubing, even hardware stores have food/medical grade tubing

Make sure it works first so you don't throw a whole bunch of money into it if you have to send it in anyways

  8. I already bought a new whip from eBay too for $5.99 with free shipping just because I live on a campus without a car and won't be able to get to a hardware store. I figured I'd rather use it for the first time with a clean whip too since that would be more of a hassle to clean.

Will 7th floor repair any of their vaporizers regardless of whether its the original owner or where its purchased from?

  9. I would have filed a claim with ebay to return it, thats in awful condition.

  10. I doubt you would have bought it in the first place then.

Roughly $80 for a $150-$200 vape might as well be free in my book. As a stereotypical broke college student I'd much rather buy something used, fix it up a bit, and have some pride in it. On top of saving close to a hundred dollars that'll buy me plenty of weed to enjoy it with.

Awful condition doesn't warrant a return. Many people (including me) buy broken things purposefully on ebay. What does warrant a return is if the true condition is concealed. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

  12. Oh nevermind then, when I first read it I skimmed through, and got the vibe that he thought it was in excellent condition when he purchased it, and received a broken one.
$80 is a great price, thats what I payed for mine from a friend of mine, mine was in alot better condition, but it was missing the hemp bag, and wand, so I had to buy the wand online.

  13. Is the SSV wand same as DBV? I need to replace mine, the ssv wands feel alot nicer.

No, I've compared the two and SSVs is thicker, generally higher quality-seeming, and easier to get the screen in. The SSV wand feels like a quality piece of glass in your hand. If you're going to replace Id get a GonG SSV wand.

  15. Got it in the mail yesterday. It powers on and appears to work fine but I can't test it until wednesday. Only took me an hour or so to have the glass looking brand new. Even the screen wont need to be replaced yet.

The wand is the old style, is there any advantage to buying the new style? I've heard it has to do with airflow.

I think its more ease of getting the screen in, and the general quality of the glass. I personally would, and it'll be nice to have two wands in general. A backup never hurt.
