Smoking weed as a Christian..?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by BroItUpDroItUp, Feb 9, 2012.

1. I can tell you from a Christian to Christian point of view, I see no wrong in smoking marijuana. God made it and in Genesis God says to enjoy all the green herbs on the earth. I have never once felt guilty using marijuana because of a conviction, or because I thought it was a sin. I have yet to find fault with using it in God's eyes. Aside from the illegality of it, although I don't believe personally God meant marijuana to be illegal in the first place.

There are many of things modern Christians have made to look like "sin" that really are not. Marijuana is one of them.

2. Doesn't the Bible say that your body is like the temple of God, so don't harm it? Well let's look at the facts from a health standpoint.

Marijuana > Tobacco
Marijuana > Alcohol

Many Christians drink and smoke ciggs/stogies or any other tobacco product. Drinking was Biblical, the disciples drank. Jesus drank. If they put into their bodies man-made substances, why can't we do the same with things that God put on this planet without human alteration? Weed doesn't harm you in any way, shape, or form. If anything, it makes life amazing and it opens your mind to ideas and perceptions you may have never had.

The only other thing the bible says is to obey the laws of the land.
If you're still morally unsure, go get your card if you have a true need for weed. And from what I've put together, I'd say you're good to smoke dude.

3. I'm a Christian. I can relate to the greater appreciation for God's creations, such as nature.

Not really sure how marijuana is supposed to conflict with your relationship with God.

4. The hemp plant (scientific name: cannabis, slang: marijuana) is one of the many useful herbs "yielding seed after its kind" created and blessed by God on the third day of creation, "and God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:12) He gave hemp for people to use with our free will.

God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat." … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:29-31) The Bible predicts some herb's prohibition. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall … speak lies in hypocrisy … commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3)

The Bible speaks of a special plant. "I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more." (Ezekiel 34:29) A healing plant. On either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare 12 manner of fruits, and yielding her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelations 22:1-2) A gift from God.

Weed = Tree of Life, smoke it :bongin:

5. it is written in the bible man shall use every seed for his purpose
Im a Christian, I go to leadership classes, I lead the worship band, and I play guitar every Sunday and Wednesday. Im a good person. BUT, I smoke weed. Usually by myself, late at night or in the morning, and I don't go to church high.

Now, am I in the wrong, or is this acceptable behavior of a true Christian? Please throw me some of your opinions.

(Please no "Atheist vs. Christian debate.)
How many of the people at your church kick back, drink a beer and chow down on pork while watching a football game .
Probably a good majority.

While I think smoking anything or becoming intoxicated is wrong according to the Bible, its no worse than what everyone else does in American churches which is ignore the parts of Scripture that inconvenience them.

If they get onto you about smoking they had all better be sober, non pork and shrimp eating,TV G watching, God fearing Christians

BUT>>>>>>our plant doesn't yield fruit every month........that would be great if it did.....imagine having like on big ole plant in your yard...

9. Its called a sea of green growing setup...

And to all of you using biblical arguments...

The bible is the "word of god"
Written down by men
And then edited by King James.

There have been omissions and changes. Plus theres an overwhelming evidence the israelies used mushrooms and other drugs as a part of their religious practices. Thinl about it, doesnt all of revelation sound like a completely scary acid trip?

@op: your relationship with god is between you and him. The church has lost sight of the true meaning of christianity and its leading supposedly devout followers astray. If you and god are ok with it, youre solid.

10. For those of you who think im trolling, I assure you that im not.
I do not feel convicted for smoking and im not asking for someone to tell me what to do.
I simply wanted to know what GC thought about this aspect of marijuana.

Anyways.
The biggest thing that makes me think I shouldn't smoke is this:

Romans 13:1 ESV

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

So, if you take that verse, smoking weed is a sin, because it is against the law.
My only question: So its not a sin to smoke in a state that marijuana is legal?
Its sorta contradicts itself. Which leads me to believe that smoking really isn't sin, it just depends what state you're in..?
That's just ridiculous.

11. god created the medicines, fruits, and poisons of the world, scientist have proved that cannabis is one of his medicines.

12. There are catholic churches that use marijuana as a sacriment

13. I'm a Christian and I think its fine. Ive never felt guilty after smoking weed. I can honestly say I feel more guilty after smokin a cigarette or watching porn. The Bible does talk about intoxication but I don't think weed really falls into that category. People do some really dumb shit when they're drunk but when not when you get high. And besides I think for something to be considered intoxicating it would have to be toxic. Weed is obviously not toxic cuz you can't overdose on it. Alcohol on the other hand is definitely toxic. If God really did not want us to get high there would be an eleventh commandment. It wouldn't be hidden in the Bible somewhere . There's another part in the Bible talks about mana comin down from heaven and it says that it was small and round and the people would go find it in early morning and basically it sounded just like mushrooms haha.

Ya that law following thing was probly snuck in there by some emperor. Notice its from Romans. I don't think God would send anyone to hell for smokin weed anymore than he would for speeding. Besides Jesus broke walkin kinds of laws.

Satan didn't put anything on earth, basically our earliest ancestors fucked up so God said from then on we would have to work hard for our food and he made thorns and poison and shit.

16. If your so religion then consult your local pastor/ priest and use his words as advice , when reading your bible/scroll whatever u read

Im pretty sure there's no mention of using marijuana good or bad

17. Hell, I go to church high. Its a more immersive experience.

18. Can't you just ask for repentance even if it is a sin? (which I highly highly highly doubt)
Blaze now, hail Mary later.

19. God gave man the herbs and plants of the earth bro, keep toking.

20.
God gave man the herbs and plants of the earth bro, keep toking.
