Smoking associated with weight loss?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by AJ949, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. Apologies if I am posting in the wrong area:

I started smoking about 2 years ago but not heavily until this past summer of 09. I define "heavily" as once a day, so probably isn't considered heavily to others..anyways I have noticed that I have lost a good 15 pounds or so (it still takes me about 2 weeks to burn through a 20sac...I just get high really quick.

I read somewhere that if you don't act upon the hunger when you're high that you have the potential to lose a lot of weight because it speeds up your metabolism. I used to smoke a lot with friends but now that everyones went there own ways after high school I usually do it with a friend and am not always out and about going to mcdonalds loading up on Mc chickens and double cheeseburgers, so when I smoke I usually don't eat (even though I get REALLLLLLY hungry)

    Anyone else experience this?

    Thanks!

  2. Yeah I lost about 10 kg in a few months when I started smoking daily... it was quite surprising for me, since I tend to eat everything when I have munchies, so I expected I'd rather gain weight, but I'm not complaining :)

  3. Personally I feel the exact opposite. weight has been a serious issue for me.I dont know if its just me, but i smoke a fair amount, but whenever i go out of town i usually wont smoke for a little tolerance break (its a lot easier to smoke when you don't have your connect a few blocks from you) and when i stop for more than a week i will loose multiple pounds.:( Im also not to sure about weed increasing your metabolism. There was a study published in the "American Review of Respiratory Disease" that said that it could but i don't know how solid the evidence was

  4. Over all you are being more active when you smoke. You walk more, you put more thought into food, and you eat at strange times.
Eating at strange times confuses your diet making you not as hungry later. In turn this leads to eating less than you would if you had the 3 meals a day with a few snacks. Also when people smoke they are with friends and you tend to eat less with friends.

  5. For me its the opposite cause my friends and I would just drive around for a few good hours and just keep going to eat fast food. haha
