Smoked a joint for the first time 2 days ago...

    So I've been smoking on and off for a couple months now, but I've always used my friends bong. I went to a party a couple days ago and smoked a joint for the first time. A different friend had puffed and passed it to me, and it was only about an inch long. I immediately grabbed it with my thumb and forefinger and put it to my mouth, but the joint was extremely hot and burnt the shit out of my thumb. I took a good hit and gave it back to him, but the hotness of the joint didn't appear to be bothering him at all.

    Was I holding it wrong or something?? I'm really confused. Also, are joints always red hot, or was it just that hot because it had been burning for a while and was down to about an inch left?

    To give you an idea of how bad it burnt me, I still have a giant red mark on my thumb 2 days later.

    If there was an inch left, it should not have burnt you. We're you holding it at the end or near the middle. I always hold it as close to the mouth end as possible. Usually don't touch my lips to it, especially I'd there's no filter.

    I have a friend who has his two fingers now grown out a little bit just so he never burns himself with joints..

    Lol it'll only burn if fingers if the joint is only a lik bit off. If it was a full joint lit, it wouldn't burn you.
