I don't have an airtight growroom. I have one exhaust filter, however, that is about 750 CFM. or 1200 m^3/hr. It is a very strong fan. my room is a small bathroom in my laundry room. I live on the last floor of my apartment. The laundry room (where the exhaust pipe spits air from the growroom to) has an open gap (1,70m x85cm) that allows air to enter into it in order to dry clothes. This would be a good thing if my neighbours apartment wasnt the mirror image of mine, and his laundry window wasn't 15 feet across from mine. I could buy a window and close this area off though since I have a dryer as well. I don't want to do this as the open window supplies my room with incredibly fresh air. I want to instead eliminate the odor using the negative pressure used by my strong exhaust fan. I cannot purchace a carbon filter as I can't find anyone with a 13.6 inch entrance (my exhaust fan has a 30 cm diameter). Instead I heard of these 'carbon actiavated pre-filter sheets' (I think this is an example, but am not sure this is the best one: Amazon.com: 14ALL Filter Queen Cut-to-Fit Replacement Carbon Pre-Filter: Home & Kitchen) I was wondering if anybody here has any suggestion for me. I have an exhauster with a large gap and cannot get a carbon filter (which is usually 6in) on it so I have to build my own filter, in effect. How many layers of sheets do I need? Will the sheets cause problems for my airflow? again the fan is very strong and i'm worried that with too many sheets the fan will pull stronger than the sheets can hold, some sort of partial high-force vaccum, that will pull the sheets into it. This could possibly cause a fire. anybody have any experience with this? thanks! Even if my room smells slightly I think that the fact that the laundry room is open to the air will be enough, if the smell is faint. The carbon filter doesn't have to eliminate ALL the smells, but at least get rid of a large part of it so that it won't carry too far in open air. peace dudes!
Do you know where I can buy activated carbon filters? i keep finding 'pre-filters' on amazon.com I found some 'activated carbon pads'. is this what i'm looking for to wrap around my scrubber? i have to buy this shit online bc I cant find carbon filters in my country
Not personally..but from a search I found this.. Activated carbon filter Air Purifier Accessories - Compare Prices, Read Reviews and Buy at Bizrate.
I think these will do the trick too: Amazon.com: 23 x 30 Activated Carbon air filter refill pads: Everything Else that other one, that you posted, by the picture, seems to replace the 'aluminum screen' function on the scrubber, right?
word, thanks! I feel like the pre-filters aren't going to be enough, they cost 2 dollars vs, 13. the price always means something. I'm just worried my 750 CFM fan will be sort of an overkill and require me to make a huge scrubber, in order to deal with the amount of air that can flow through the filter per second. I wishthe filter descriptions would include the amount of airflow (CFM or m^3/h) per metersquared of filter. going to email a company and ask. peace dude, thanks a lot
lol, this is even better dude: http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/281136-how-cheap-easy-efficient-diy-carbon-scrubber.html
nice. I just found a 'can' like the juice can he mentions. im changing my exhaustor to one of about 400 CFM. how deep should the carbon layer be in my filter?
