Smell problem

  1. Here's my set up. Growing 15 mpalnts in a 8x8 room, 2 400w hps, 1 1000w MH, 4 vertical wall mounted fluorescents, 1 small fan air tight blowing air in, 1 large fan blowing air thru the room, 5" duct work into the attic with charcoal filter.

Obviously not doing enough because the outside reeks! Luckily the cops have already been to my house before for unrelated reasons and know i have my med card. Still, this is uncomfortable. In the attic we have dryer sheets at the end of the duct and glade timer air fresheners.

The grow was a huge success but I really need to do something about the smell. This room is attached to my room and now all my clothes and everything else just ooze high quality bud.

    Any help?

  2. Sorry if this is a retarded question and i failed to read properly.

1 small fan for intake, 5" ducting into attic with filter but is there an exhaust fan on that 5" ducting? If there is, is it strong enough to create any negative pressure?

From my understanding on the subject (and i'll never claim to understand anything very much) without negative pressure drawing all the air in the room towards the filter, like a capable exhaust, all of the air can't be cleaned.

Even if there is an exhaust fan and you just forgot to mention it, @ 5" I'm not sure it'd be quite enough. My 6" fan and filter combo do great but even in the 4x8' area if i turn it down to under 60-75ish % power, some smell will seep out late in flower.

  3. You need to change your filter perphaps or get a larger one.

  4. agreed with rhap, new one or bigger. carbon filter may be worn or not enough. maybe also check for leaks in the airflow. Also as dumb as mosleys question may seem, these are questions that need to be answered. if you just have a carbon filter sitting on the end of a chunk of ducting and expect that to work, it wont. since you say its high quality stuff, i assume it has a fan and you know what you are doing for the most part. and id hope by "fans" you mean in-line fans. with exception to the large standing fan in room for air movement

  5. You might what to try out ONA gel in addition to your carbon filter if you still have odor trouble.

  6. You need to drop some dough on a high quality fan and carbon filter. I use an 8" Phresh filter, and it works like a champ! Can brand are also good, but if you're having it shipped, Phresh are much lighter weight, and less expensive to ship.

Second, if smell is still an issue after that, you can get an ozone generator. Warning, do your research about the safety of this device, and decide if the risks are worth it to you, in your household. Be sure to put this on a timer for not more that a couple minutes per hour, and only during the time you aren't in the room (during lights out, or maybe a few times during the day?) This will help with the smell, no doubt.

Finally, I'll ask nicely that you please clean up your act, and keep the police from visiting your residence. It's important that us growers, whether we are legal medical growers, or not, act like better citizens than the general public. This is important to the future of those who grow.

  7. burn some incense, or plant something out front that has a smell to cover the cannabis, or upgrade you ducting and carbon filter.

  8. Yea man the ONA works good

  9. Hi Crimsonbud, let me start by saying that I am envious of your setup!

To combat the smell, some large duct piping taken right into a drywall bucket filled with activated charcoal pellets would help eliminate the smell. There are many good DIY's online, in fact, this site helped be develop my system years ago.
