Hi there, As the title says, I'm doing a wardrobe grow. I have not put any plants into my setup yet because I want it up and running perfectly before I begin (I've learned from experience). I'll outline my setup so you can get a sense of what I have -3ft x 1.5 ft x 5.5ft Wardrobe -Interior is insulated with reflective styrofoam to contain some of the sound -70CFM Bathroom Fan hooked up to a DIY Carbon filter exhausting out of the back and out of a windor. I've made an air intake at the bottom for passive air intake. -DIY PVC Scrog net with 2" holes sitting 8" above the buckets -I'm currently setup with eight (8) 6500K CFLs for my vegetative period. These are all hooked up together through a DIY PVC light fixture. - Two 5 Gallon DWC Buckets - One 80Gal Dual Nozzle Topfin Air pump (Petsmart) I've let the system run for a couple of days with the door closed to get a sense of the average temperature in the box. While the room was about 23C, the box was peaked at about 27-28C. I'm worried that when room temperatures reach above 30C, the box will become extremely hot. I'm considering doing only 1 bucket to make room for a fan. I'm also planning on installing a couple of 90mm inline fans (the pc fans) to cool down the CFLs. My question is, would two 90mm fans suffice to cool down the box or will I need to do more? **Also, here is a list of the nutes and such that I will be using just in case anyone has any experience and/or advice about them: - DutchMaster Gold Nutri A+B (Grow) - DutchMaster Gold Nutri A+B (Flower) - DutchMaster Liquid Light - DutchMaster Saturator - General Hydroponics RapidStart - GH pH down - Nutri+ Bud Plus for flowering - Mycogrow Soluble/ZHO/EWC for Heisenberg's Microbe Tea for preventative measures as I've battled with root slime before:/ - Neem Oil Foliar Spray I was wondering if I should get any more of DMs products? I've had very good experience with their line of nutrients and wouldn't use any other brand but I'm curious as to whether their other products like ADD.27 or Silica are useful or not? I've had success without them but I'd also like to increase my yield in this microgrow. If anyone has experience with any of these, please let me know what you think! Thanks!
whats your wattage on lights, and i tried a bathroom fan, and they can make air move really good but have zero pressure abilities, check out what i got, a way smaller space but same number of lights, 50CFM bathroom fan, and i was breaking 35 with room temp at 22 when i had my filter on. even with a pc fan pulling through the filter for help it still hit 30 easy.... im definately investing in a better fan than a $20 bath fan when i build a cabinet, maybe even sooner, for a rubbermaid bin! i guess thats why we post up here so others can learn from our experiences right?
Yeah that much light wont be able to be cooled with two 90mm fans. And with that large of space, your airflow is gonna be abysmal with those two tiny fans. Get one or two fans that size just to put inside the cabinet to blow across the plants. You need some airflow inside to help prevent mold and it helps your stalks get stronger. Also withmine, if I didnt have fans running inside as well, my cab would probably atleast 5 degrees hotter (fahrenheit). Atleast get 120mm ones if you go the PC fan route. There are some pretty quiet ones which pull like 80+ cfm. Yeah we gotta know the wattages of those bulbs to see how much heat theyll make. Im guessing theyre all 26w, and with that many, it will get pretty hot. And its good that you see the difference that your ambient room temp makes. When it gets hotter, which for me is coming up in a few months, I know that the AC in my place will probably have to be run to keep my cab down in the low 80s fahrenheit.
Yes the lights are 26W. If I were to install two 120mm fans near the base of my scrog, would that create enough airflow to have the 'wind effect' on the plants for stronger stalk growth? That's something I really want as it does make a difference in the end. If that's good enough for internal airflow, i might figure out a way to blow cool air through the intake to temperature purposes.
it might be good enough "wind". but any fan is more efficient pulling, you want twice as many CFMs going out as in, infact most people have passive air intake, with all dfans sucking air out of the box/cabinet. Trust me, i know from experienced you need a better exhaust system, A bath fan like that definately cant push 70CFMs through a filter, i would bet it is only moving 25CFM or less with a filter, my bin was maintaining temps over 105F with a filter attached to the 50CFM version.... i have recently updated my grow majorly. its in my journal, links in my sig.
