Small pipe carb?

    So here's the problem : i have a fairly small glass pipe with a small carb on it.
    And whenever i remove my finger from it , instead of clearing the chamber i end up dragging even more smoke in it , and coughing from a massive hit.

    So what should i do?
    Douse the blazed bud before clearing it?

    if you remove your finger from the carb and put your finger over the bowl you will suffocate the fire and be able to clear it
