Small grow cabinet and PC Grow Box. 4 plants come join and help me on my first grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by hod928, Mar 30, 2015.

  1. Hey everyone I had this posted on another site and noone came to share the love with me! I hope you guys here can help me in my quest to grow! Now my set up is not perfect and it is a Micro grow so I hope I have it in the right spot. If not I can request a mod to move it to the appropriate forum for me!

Im just gonna copy/paste my last post from the other site to help me get started so if the wording sounds weird thats why!

    Update 2!

Hey guys and gals, today makes 3 weeks old for each plant! Both the PC and Cabinet are on a 18 hour on, 6 hour off light cycle. I snapped a few pictures while I had them out for watering I think starting next watering I will be giving them all nutes starting at 1/4 dose working up 1/4 each week until im at the recommend dosage following the fox farms trio schedule from their website.

My PC plants are by far the best looking ones. But that's clearly because they are receiving the most light. Both will start LST and nutes this week!

I added a few lights to the power strip running up the side. I know this is a Band-aid fix but I cant really think of anything that would work without building a new cabinet or buying a tent. (Really just wanna get threw this one grow before I buy a tent and then I can use the box for vegging seedlings) I still plan on rotating the plants back and forth each day so they are receiving the same amount of light. Still open for suggestions on what to do to increase my lighting for both plants! I totally under estimated the size of a 125w cfl! Same as the PC case tho both will get nutes and light LST starting this week just need to make a trip to walmart for some pipe cleaners.

Some questions as before that I hope I can get some help with.

    1. Should I be PH'in the water up/down that goes into my plants.

    2. Any tips for feeding them the nutes? Should I be checking the PH of the run off after I give them the nutes? What do I do if its to high/low?

    Thanks everyone!

  4. Looks good! I'm subbed. What are the dimensions of your PC case, and are you planning to go from veg to flower just in the PC case or will you be moving them to a larger space to flower?

  5. Thank you! Glad to have you on the journey! I plan on doing flower in the PC case. As for size I don't have the exact size (my tape is in my car) but if I remember right its 17 inches tall and 8 inches wide. My cabinet is 2'x2x2' I plan on switching it around 6 weeks into veg to help keep them small (I hope this is a good idea?). Its gonna be tight but in all honestly im not expecting much. I figure if I can grow successfully in this small environment then its even more reason for me to upgrade to a bigger tent!

The nice thing about the PC case and the Cabinet right now is I just moved to a bigger city with alot of night life, sports etc so when family and friends come down to visit its easy to put them in our bedroom for the weekend.

  6. 6 weeks veg might be a little long, but it depends on how fast they grow. I've heard a good rule of thumb is that you should switch once they're 1/3 of the size you want them to be as the other 2/3 should come during flower!

But I'm no expert... I've done a lot of reading and followed a lot of grows, but don't have any firsthand experience.

They are growing super fast in my PC case! Might switch them to 12/12 this weekend!

  8. Decided to throw my other 125W CFL (Flower Bulb) into my cabinet to see if the heat would be an issue. I honestly figured that it would be too much heat for the box.

Turned my exhaust fan on high and took out one layer of the carbon filter to help push more air out...and it worked!! Going tomorrow to pick up a new veg bulb from the local shop!!

This makes me feel alot better now that I wont have light issues in my cabinet on the one side anymore. Im just going to stagger the lights a few inches apart!

  10. Oh no! That sucks :(

They're pretty resilient though... I wouldn't give up on them just yet. Cut off all the crispiness and see how they do.

  11. Update on my Cabinet Grow!

This marks 4 weeks in veg. I moved my lights up to the top and from plant bottom to 1 1/2 inches from the light I have 13 inches of vertical growth area. With the plants tied down in LST they are right around 3 inches tall. I was told that 1/3 of the height should be used before switching.

Also besides LST what are some training methods I should be using to get the most potential out of the plant. I cant think of the name right now of the training method but I would like to start plucking some the of the lower fan leaves to help with the light penetration and giving the plant the most energy now that im about to switch into flower.

Anyways here are the pictures, thanks for looking! If anyone has any tips/tricks/suggestions on what I should be doing feel free to comment!

  12. Looks like they recovered alright from your accident :)

Other training methods include topping and screen of green, you can look into those. SCROG might not be best for your small setup though. LST is probably your best bet.

As for removing the lower fan leaves you can definitely try, although you don't have much of a canopy as the plants are pretty small so I'd be inclined to leave as many leaves as possible in order to absorb the most light. Do some experimenting if you like though!

  18. I don't see any balls, and what I do see looks like pistils, so they look female to me. Might be too early to tell though?

As I mentioned earlier I'm not an expert.

  19. Hey guys! Sorry about the long time since an update. Since Easter ive been slammed with work/school and I just started my 3rd job...Gotta support thoes hobbies!
\nThis is an update for the Grow Cabinet! (will get the PC case tomorrow!)
\nBoth plants are doing crazy well since ive switched to flowering. They grow super fast. The plant on the left grew almost 2 inches over night from one single watering. I woke up to find the leaves touching the light so they got a little burned. The plant on the left is my best LST I got that puppy growing like a S keeping it very short and bushey while the other one (right) is not wanting to bend so much so its about 2-3 inches taller then her hopefully sister...well I hope there both sisters still no sign of female or male.
