Hi all, I have 3 AK-48 plants that are on day 15 from germination. They 2 are about 3'' high but with only 2 small leaves and 1 is about 2'' high with a couple of small round leaves coming out of it. I have 2 24'' grow fluros and 8 15W CFL's about 4'' away from them. They're in a cabinet with a fan oscillating in the back. I gets pretty warm so I have been leaving the door cracked open keeping the temp around 75-80ºF. I started out using an organic soil that the Gardening store recommended. They said it was 100% organic - only bark and compost. I started with that and a 30% perilite mixture for the first 12 days. The soil wouldn't drain properly and the plants didn't look healthy. They leaves started to curl under with brown spots on the edges. I replanted them in MG Organic Potting soil. It's in an orange/brownish bag. I mixed it with a 30% perilite mixture. They look slightly healthier, but still, growth is extremely slow. I haven't noticed a difference since day 3. It is now day 15. I have been using NO nutes. I was using 2 drops of superthrive per gallon of water for watering, but used fresh water that had been left out for over 24 hours for the last 2 waterings. I water about every 4 days. With the heat and fan, it dries out pretty fast. What could be the explanation for the slow and unhealthy growth? I can't figure it out. Here are a couple pictures:
They dont really look to bad. Sounds like your growing medium and lights are a-ok, Some strains stay low for a while but you should have more branching. I am growing a mazar which should have easily been flowered and done yet i am on week 11 thats right week 11 of a indica flowering stage and still blooming. So some strains or just genetics are a little slow to do what some others do. Keep them hot n humid and even look at covering them with some saran wrap to increase humidity kinda like a humidity dome just make sure they can still breathe.. best of luck..
Really? What made me doubt was seeing all the other journals and most people's grows were actual plants by week 2. I'll just let em' chill for a while and see what happens. Thanks you!!
Do you have good drainage holes? It sounded like over watering yet you have 30% perlite... They're skow... That's what many plants look like at 7 days, not 15. Make sure you have good drainage, put a little dolomite lime on top and water it in. Keep the lights close...

Is that AK48 from Nirvana? If so I have know, grown, and loved it from seed also When I started that seedling I did it under a CFL. I hung a single CFL directy over each seedling. I kept the CFL less then 2" and usually less then an inch from the plant. My seedlings were much bigger then that at two weeks when they went under the MH. I would say ditch the florescent light, it is worthless and just a waste of energy/heat. I'd see about finding some larger CFLs, I start mine under the 26w 6500k GE CFLs which are about $6-8 each but if you can find 42w CFLs in 6500K those would be even better. But the most important thing is to hang the lights as close to the seedling as possible. GL!
