Hello all i really need some advice im getting nowhere and its quite disheartening I have ordered several different strains from gyo seedbank My set up is a 4ft H 4ft L 2ft W Ive got 6inch induction fan 2x 4inch outlet to carbon filter 30cm Desk fan in tent 300w viparspectra reflector 300w meizhi reflector both at 22inch 7L himidifier going while lights are on keeps the RH around 55-70% temp sits around 28-31c/82-87f ph water at 5.8-6.1 ppm 60 (filtered) Using coco nd perlite watering roughly every 24 to 30 hours Lights 20h on 4h off My issue is slow growth after the first set of leaves if any growth at all i dont know what im doing wrong Ive taken several photos all in all i planted 13 seeds the ones that servived are in photos..... i did start them all inside but they all got to a point and stopped growing so i put them outside where it looks like they actually grew a lil, I dont really understand wats going on is 600w too much? Or not enough? Are all my seeds got terrible gens?
Coco/Perlite needs to be holding mutes and moisture and seriously benefits from the early addition of Mycorrhizae. I had similar problems and added organic soil with worm casting and Mycorrhizae in it. That and making sure pH is good. Best of luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply! Okay ill purchase some mykos, ive just received a fresh batch of seeds from a different place so ill see how they go.. You recommend going with some water only organic soil? Instead of coco nd adding bottled nutes? Maybe ill buy a bag nd give it a trial run
Coco isn’t soil and shouldn’t be treated as such. When growing in cocoperlite you have to feed from day 1. I’d suggest www.cocoforcannabis.com for great info on growing in cocoperlite. You want to start feeding daily with 1/4 strength nutrients. ph between 5.7-6.3 Cheers Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum
That's pretty warm to I try to keep it between 70 and 78 could be part of the problem sir Sent from my SM-G960U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
T That video was super helpful thanks you lonegardener! I will start a few on 1/4 strength nutes see if that helps
Thanks! Temp is one of them things where some people say 30 is optimum sum say under 30 some say over..... They all go really fast for the first day or 2 then they die in the ass really bad, unless in getting only lower root growth which ive also read somewhere. Being a first time indoor grower im gonna give everything a whirl lol
I I live in Aus and my mates dad has 15+ 5 foot trees in his yard, its often well over 36°c he recons they thrive when its hot.. again being a new time grower am unsure whether thats an outdoor thing only
1/8th strength untill they’re the size of the big one mate. Then quarter and that should do for at least a month. Then half if they start getting hungry. Less is best. Soon as you start feeding too much weird shit happens. If they get hungry you just up it and they fixe themselves before the damage is done. tox problems though the damage is done by the time you can see it.
Also no offence to whoever said it but I’d never recommend putting anything other than liquid nutes into coco. Just a needless risk imo. The point of coco is that it gets fed mass volumes so anything slow release can cos problems.
Okay awsome, im using the general hydro flora series its says 1/4teaspoon per gal for seedlings instead would i 1/8 teaspoon per gal? Another weird thing i noticed is my plants outside dont have droopy leaves like the ones unside? Can too much light be a factor? Or is my problem litterely only nutes?
Nah just give em a dose and they should be fine mate. Look healthy just hungry. aint got a clue about outdoors things to be honest. Don’t use teaspoons though. Get a 5ml syringe. Iether a quid on amazon or get them at a chemist/pharmacy. They come with most children’s couch mixture type things. always mix nutes up in multiples of 10L so the 0.6ml or whatever becomes a full number. Makes it easy to get precise measurements. They really don’t need much nutes in coco cos your feeding every day. 500ppm is generally enough for anything under 5oz.
Oh right I get ya now lol. Yes too much light can hurt em but your leds are only actually about 140w each. Hang em 24inch for seedlings. Drop a little if they’re stretching too much. Then as they grow bring the light closer. 18 inches for established plants then can probably get them like 12inch away during bloom.
Ahh yess 10L batches would make it much easier haha ive been trying to do up 2L batches...... lol so confusing
I got super impatient with them and i stupidly put the light about 10 inch away..... then still no growth but they started going purple which was weird so i backed them off to 22", ive been thinking this whole time that its been a light problem fml, i mixed up a batch and gave em a feed hopefully i see some growth tamoz morning
Yeah seedlings dont need much light mate. Best just to go slow with them untill theyre 3 or 4 nodes (sets of leaves) tall. Once theyre that size theyre fairly indestructible and can take a fair pasting. 22inch should be sound for now.
Thanks heaps for your help man ive been looking at all the wrong things lol Ive also planted 3 more that i got from seedsman in coco that i thoroughly washed before using nd gave a lil soak of cal mag.... they should be breaking surface tamoz hopefully. How long after they show through soil should i start feeding? Ive also got a viparspectra hp500 should be here tomorrow, would u recommended getting that going to? Or is that wayyy to much light for seedlings?
If you want to know the correct way to grow in coco, go here: www.cocoforcannabis.com. Follow their grow guide and you won't have problems. Good luck.
