Hi all, I am just about done with my first grow, and I have got a couple of questions. I am growing a feminized Big Bud Autoflower from Marijuana-seeds.nl. I am growing in FFOF with 30% perlite and Jack's Classic (20-20-20) for veg and Jack's Bloom Booster (10-30-20) for flower. This Auto is supposed to be 10 weeks seed to harvest, and I am almost 8 weeks in. The bud sites are all over the place, but the nugs are mostly just popcorn. Even the main colla doesn't have that bulging bud that I see in other grow journals similar to mine. My lights are 18/6 (autoflower) and I am using 5x42watt 2700k CFLs. Here are some pictures of my plant (I don't think the lights are too far away!!) and a few of the collas. My ph is a 6.5, soil and water. Will my buds get bigger in the last 2 weeks, or am I doomed to shitty harvests until I can afford a better lighting? If anyone can give me a good description of bud development (specifically size) then I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Beginning stages of flowering can be slow (first 2-3 weeks) it'll pickup as it gets nearer the end as it focuses all energy on flowrring
Awesome! I really needed to hear that. I was getting worried I wouldn't get any good nugs out of my baby.
you'll get nugz all right i always tell people though, if you notice the flower set is slow, that's fine. doesn't need to mean any thing, but you made those notes. Make more notes, in the next grow you never know, "slow flower set" might not be in your notes.
Yea, it'll produce. Also, first grows are more fun that fruit bearing. Enjoy your hard work and start again with more knowledge
i dont know what youre worried about. thats a big ruderalis plant. usually, they are much smaller than yours, and produce much less. when the leaves start to droop and the energy is all on making sticky buds to pick up pollen, they will "fill out"
Yeah its great for an auto, i'm totally happy with it. I guess i am just getting impatient. Thanks everyone that replied.
Patience is the key here. You will pick up some nugs just give the girl some time and you will be happy with the results.
The absolute craziest growth happens right in the last two maybe three weeks the flowers transform into awesomeness in those weeks
It looks to me like you topped the plant. If that is the case, you may have stunted its growth. While stunting growth is not a big deal in regular photosensitize strains, it is in auto-flowers. Regular strains can be artificially kept in veg until the stunting is over and growth resumes. I've found with autos, if you stunt them, you're screwed. They seem to finish at the same time each grow, whether you've stunted them or not. That's the problem with ruderalis and why I don't recommend that it's grown within the first couple grows. New growers make mistakes, and that's fine. That's how you learn. But with autos, you don't have the time to make the comeback. I recommend no topping, no LSTing and light nutes for autos. I've gotten the best results that way. But make the best of it man, and make sure you're taking notes like other posters have suggested. There is still time to learn how to harvest and cure the plant and that type of experience is invaluable. Good luck.
